Pros: What Customers Love
1. Massive Storage Capacity
With 2TB of storage, the ySky external hard drive is a game-changer for anyone struggling with limited space on their devices. Customers rave about how it allows them to store thousands of photos, videos, and files without worrying about running out of room. One user shared, "This external hard drive freed up so much space on my phone. It’s perfect for backing up all my photos and videos without needing to rely on iCloud."
2. Easy to Use
Many customers appreciate how straightforward the setup process is. The included 3-in-1 data cables (Lightning, USB 3.0, and USB-C) make it compatible with a wide range of devices, and the one-touch backup feature simplifies the process of transferring files. A satisfied customer noted, "Once I plugged it into my phone, the process was easy to download all the pictures and videos. I plan to keep using this every time my phone says I don’t have any storage left."
3. Portable and Convenient
The compact, power bank-like design makes this hard drive highly portable. Its built-in 5000mAh battery ensures you can use it on the go without needing an external power source. One reviewer mentioned, "It’s lightweight and easy to carry, making it perfect for travel. I love that I don’t need to worry about charging it separately."
4. Versatile Compatibility
The ySky hard drive works seamlessly with iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Windows PCs, and USB-C Android devices. This versatility is a major selling point for users who own multiple devices. A happy customer shared, "Transferring pictures from iPhone to PC is the worst, but this made it sooo much easier! I would definitely recommend it over other storage options."
Cons: Areas for Improvement
1. App Functionality Issues
While the hard drive itself is easy to use, some customers have reported issues with the accompanying app. One user expressed frustration, saying, "The app was not very functional. I couldn’t get the pictures to transfer, and all my pictures kept failing. I tried changing settings on my phone, but nothing worked." Another reviewer mentioned, "Photos are all over the place inside the external drive, and I can’t get them organized."
2. Duplicate File Downloads
A recurring complaint among users is that the hard drive sometimes re-downloads files, leading to duplicates and wasted storage space. One customer shared, "Every time I plug the drive into my phone or iPad, it keeps downloading all the photos again, leaving less space for new files."
3. Lack of Tutorials
Some users found the instructions insufficient and struggled to navigate the device’s features. A reviewer noted, "The tutorial videos don’t work, and there’s no helpful content on YouTube for this specific model. It’s frustrating when you can’t figure out how to use a product properly."
Final Thoughts
The ySky MFi Certified 2TB External Hard Drive is a powerful and versatile storage solution that delivers on its promise of freeing up space on your devices. Its massive storage capacity, ease of use, and portability make it a great choice for photographers, travelers, and anyone who needs to back up large files.
However, it’s not without its flaws. The app’s functionality issues, duplicate file downloads, and lack of comprehensive tutorials can be frustrating for some users. If you’re willing to work through these minor hiccups, this hard drive is a worthwhile investment.

if you are running out of storage on your iphone this is the way to go!
This external hard drive even that it comes with instructions I follow them but I can not control the file name and ad selected photos to a particular file. The tutorial video’s don’t work and no one at this time has created a tutorial video for this equipment on YouTube.Photos are all over the place inside the external drive and can not get them organized, also every time I plug the drive to my phone and iPad it keeps downloading all the photos all over again living less space to download I’m very upset 😡😡😡
It is very easy to use. However it seems not backing up all photo folders?
I bought this external hard drive to back up my photos from my phone. It was packaged well, and once I took it out of the box and put it on the charger, I found it was already charged and ready to go. I do like that all the connectors are attached (as I'm always misplacing them). Once I plugged it into my phone, the process was easy to download all the pictures and videos. I plan to keep using this every time my phone says I don't have any storage left.
I purchased this to save some storage on my phone, I liked that the app was on my phone and had different chargers all in one. But the app was not very functional. I am unsure if it was user error but I could not get the pictures to transfer. All my pictures kept failing, I tried changing a bunch of settings in my phone and nothing worked. For reference, I have an IPhone it might be different for other phones or other people.
Main reason I got this was because my wife and I ran out of room on our phones due to so many videos and pictures. The storage drive was easy to connect to the phone directly and then also can be connected to the pc. Transferring pictures from iPhone to pc is the worst so this made it sooo much easier! Would definitely recommend over other storages due to the cables that come connected already and also how easy is to transfer data from phone to storage! Adding to the review this thing works so well I got a second one. Tip is to make sure to charge it lol always happens to me when I try to use it and it’s not working.
Easy to use and freed up storage on our phones.
