Whether you're gaming, editing videos, or backing up critical data, this SSD is built to handle extreme conditions.

Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Build Quality and Durability

The ADATA SD810 has received widespread praise for its robust build quality. The aluminum alloy casing not only looks sleek but also acts as a heat sink, ensuring the drive stays cool during sustained use. One customer noted, "The build quality is excellent with a metal outside and a rubber end that covers the port from dust and water when not in use."

The IP68 rating is another standout feature. Users appreciate the peace of mind that comes with knowing their data is safe even in extreme environments. "It’s waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof—perfect for someone like me who’s always on the go," shared a satisfied customer.

Performance and Speed

When it comes to performance, the SD810 doesn’t disappoint. With read/write speeds of up to 2000MB/s, it’s a game-changer for gamers and content creators. One gamer shared, "My games now load way faster than they used to. This thing is very small, very fast, and very light."

However, some users noted that the speed is limited by the device it’s connected to. For example, a customer using it with an Xbox One reported max speeds of 850MB/s, far below the drive’s full potential. "The Xbox won’t max the drive, so it can’t get as hot as it would over a faster connection on PC," they explained.

For PC users, the SSD shines. A video editor commented, "I use it for video production, transferring files and editing from the SSD is fast and easy. I’m working with RED RAW and ProRes files."

Usability and Compatibility

The inclusion of both USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables is a major plus. Many customers were pleasantly surprised by this, as it eliminates the need for additional adapters. "I wish it would have mentioned in the product description that it comes with both cables. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have bought the extra cable," said one user.

The plug-and-play functionality makes it incredibly user-friendly. Whether you’re using it with a gaming console, laptop, or smartphone, the SD810 works seamlessly. "It worked instantly with my Xbox One," shared a gamer.

Value for Money

At its price point, the ADATA SD810 offers exceptional value. Customers appreciate the combination of speed, durability, and versatility. "This is a very fast and very affordable SSD, especially compared to other similar options," said a content creator.

The 5-year warranty is another selling point. "Other similar competitors sometimes only offer 3 years. It’s nice to know I have it should I need it," noted a customer.

Conclusion: Is the ADATA SD810 Worth It?

The ADATA SD810 1000G External SSD is a standout product that delivers on its promises. Its blazing-fast speeds, rugged durability, and versatile compatibility make it a top choice for gamers, content creators, and professionals. While its full potential may be limited by the device it’s connected to, it still outperforms traditional hard drives and many competitors in its class.

The inclusion of both USB-C and USB-A cables is a thoughtful touch, and the 5-year warranty adds an extra layer of confidence. If you’re looking for a reliable, high-performance external SSD that can handle extreme conditions, the ADATA SD810 is an excellent investment.

Final Verdict: Highly recommended for anyone in need of a fast, durable, and versatile external SSD.

Comments from Amazon:

If you're using this on Xbox One x/s, you can't put those games on there and play them from it (unless they are the backward compatible games like Xbox, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 )

I bought this to use on my Xbox one (original fat) for more storage and to load games quicker than the internal hard drive. If you're using this on Xbox One x/s, you can't put those games on there and play them from it (unless they are the backward compatible games like Xbox, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 ). You can however use it for storage of all games, media, and apps. Since I'm using it on an older Xbox one for storing AND playing games, it works perfectly for my use-case. The build quality is excellent with metal outside and a rubber end that covers the port from dust and water when not in use. The metal acts as a heatsink as SSD drives get hot when in sustained use. For the Xbox, it isn't even close to maxing this thing out speed-wise. I measured 850Mb/s max when transferring. Compared to the capability, the Xbox won't max the drive so it can't get as hot as it would over a faster connection on PC. Even so, I would think the metal case around this would provide good heat dissipation in those scenarios where the drive speed is max and sustained. One of the things that drew me to the drive is that, contrary to Adata's website and Amazon's listing, it comes with both a usb-c to usb-c cable AND a usb-c to usb-A cable. If you look at other competitors in this segment, it varies whether you get a usb-A or not. So that's a nice touch. The cables are different lengths. The Usb-c only cable, is about 6 inches long and the usb-A is about 4. The fact that it includes both cables and I didn't need to buy another adapter is awesome. Especially for the price. In addition to all these things, Adata offers a warranty for 5 years on the SD810. Other similar competitors sometimes only offer 3 years. I'm hoping to never have to use it, but it's nice to know I have it should I need it. As for my games, they now load way faster than they used to. Overall this thing is very small, very fast, very light, a great value, and worked instantly with my Xbox one. Longevity will be the key here, but based on the past Adata data (see what I did there?), I don't anticipate an issue. Don't forget to update the firmware when you get it on your PC. I recommend you buy this without hesitation. I hope this review helped you. If it did, hook me up with a thumbs up, would you?

I was surprised to find out that it came with two cables, one with a USB-C connection on both ends and the other with a USB-C on one end, and a standard USB on the other

A lot smaller physically than I was expecting! Super fast transfers and lots of space. I was surprised to find out that it came with two cables, one with a USB-C connection on both ends and the other with a USB-C on one end, and a standard USB on the other. I am not sure they are all sold like that, but mine was. I wish it would have mentioned in the product description otherwise I wouldn't have bought the extra cable. But otherwise I am very happy with this drive and can't wait to use it.

Data transfer was quick , had no issues used this to backup my laptop .

They're not very intense games so I couldn't tell if you putting a big AAA game on it is a good idea for PC, but it's very fast and reliable

I used this to store a couple of games. They're not very intense games so I couldn't tell if you putting a big AAA game on it is a good idea for PC, but it's very fast and reliable.

I use it for video production, transferring files and editing from the SSD is fast and easy

This is a very fast and very affordable SSD, specially compared to other similar options. I use it for video production, transferring files and editing from the SSD is fast and easy. I’m working with RED RAW and ProRes Files.

I bought this to download my PC games onto and it is perfect for that.
