Pros and Cons: What Do Customers Say?

Performance and Speed

Many users praise the Bliksem SSD 512GB for its impressive speed and performance. One customer noted, "It works and runs fast, and hasn't crapped out on me yet!" Another user highlighted its value for money, stating, "This SSD offers excellent value for its price. I primarily used it for installing operating systems on my computers, and I have not encountered any reliability issues."

However, some users reported issues with speed consistency. A reviewer mentioned, "I've had this SSD for 2 months now, and it's become corrupted roughly every couple of weeks." This inconsistency in performance raises concerns about long-term reliability.

Ease of Installation and Compatibility

The Bliksem SSD is generally easy to install, with many users describing it as "plug and play." One satisfied customer shared, "At the beginning, I had issues with it, but then I switched ports, and it worked without any issues." Another user appreciated its compatibility, saying, "Trabaja perfecto" (It works perfectly).

However, some users faced compatibility challenges. A customer with a specific motherboard configuration noted, "On bootup, I had to switch the disk format from MBR to GPT for Windows to install on it (through command prompt)." While this is a niche issue, it’s worth considering if you’re using a less common setup.

Durability and Reliability

The Bliksem SSD is marketed as durable and reliable, thanks to its lack of moving parts and resistance to shocks and drops. Many users have had positive experiences, with one stating, "I honestly had my initial doubts about this hard drive for the size and the price, but I genuinely cannot complain."

On the flip side, several users reported frequent corruption issues. One frustrated reviewer shared, "I've never had an SSD or HDD that became corrupted as frequently as this disk does. Maybe I just got a bad unit, but I won't be buying this brand again." This recurring issue suggests potential quality control problems.

Customer Service and Warranty

The 3-year warranty is a significant selling point for the Bliksem SSD. However, customer experiences with the warranty and support have been mixed. One user warned, "Update: more than a month on, and the seller still hasn’t responded or resolved my issue. Contacted Amazon, and they said there was 'nothing they could do.' BEWARE THIS SELLER. The warranty they’re selling is worthless, and expect no customer service whatsoever."

Another customer echoed this sentiment, stating, "I jumped through ALL the hoops the seller requested in diagnosing the issue, provided tens of screenshots and log data, and then they ghosted me. Incredible. STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE ELSEWHERE." These experiences highlight potential pitfalls when dealing with the seller.

Conclusion: Is the Bliksem SSD 512GB Worth It?

The Bliksem SSD 512GB offers a compelling mix of affordability, speed, and compatibility, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious users looking to upgrade their storage. Its 3D NAND technology and SATA III interface deliver solid performance for everyday tasks, gaming, and OS installations.

However, the product’s reliability and customer service are areas of concern. While many users have had positive experiences, others have faced frequent corruption issues and poor support from the seller. If you’re considering this SSD, weigh the pros and cons carefully. For critical data storage, you might want to explore more established brands with better track records.

Final Verdict:

  • Pros
Affordable, fast, easy to install, and compatible with most systems.
  • Cons
Inconsistent reliability, poor customer service, and potential warranty issues.

If you’re willing to take a chance on a budget-friendly SSD, the Bliksem SSD 512GB could be a good fit. However, for peace of mind and long-term reliability, you might want to invest in a more reputable brand.

Comments from Amazon:

Good price, well known manufacture, plug and play, no issues.

Cheap and does the work

At the beginning had issues with it, but then switched ports and worked without any issues. Cheap and does the work.

Contacted Amazon and they said there was “nothing they could do”

Update: more than a month on and the seller still hasn’t responded or resolved my issue. Contacted Amazon and they said there was “nothing they could do”. BEWARE THIS SELLER. The warranty they’re selling is worthless and expect no customer service whatsoever. Update: I jumped through ALL the hoops the seller requested in diagnosing the issue, provided tens of screenshots and log data and then they ghosted me. Incredible. STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU PURCHASE ELSEWHERE. I've had this SSD for 2 months now and it's become corrupted roughly every couple weeks. Unfortunately, I can't return it (I'd assume it was something I was doing during the 30-day return windows). I've never had an SSD or HDD that became corrupted as frequently as this disk does. Maybe I just got a bad unit, but I won't be buying this brand again. I'd rather not take my chances (especially given how many SSD producers are out there nowadays - should be easy to find one that's cheap and still doesn't become corrupted every 2 weeks.

I primarily used it for installing operating systems on my computers, and I have not encountered any reliability issues

This SSD offers excellent value for its price. I primarily used it for installing operating systems on my computers, and I have not encountered any reliability issues. While I would recommend it for OS installations, I advise against using it for storing important data due to potential limitations. Overall, it represents a great deal.

Trabaja perfecto.

 My motherboard: Biostar TZ590-BTC

This might be specific to my motherboard, but on bootup I had to switch the disk format from MBR to GPT for windows to install on it (through command prompt). My motherboard: Biostar TZ590-BTC. This was windows 11.
