Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

1. Performance and Speed

One of the standout features of the HP EX900 Plus is its impressive speed. Customers have praised its ability to significantly reduce boot times and improve overall system performance. One user shared, "My HP laptop from 2022 was bogging down like crazy, even after doubling the memory. After installing this SSD, it now boots in about 30 seconds—way better than the 2 minutes it used to take." Another reviewer noted, "The SSD works great, and the price was very reasonable. It’s perfect for my OS and daily tasks."

However, some users mentioned that while the speeds are fast, they might not be the absolute fastest in the market. But for most users, the performance is more than sufficient for everyday tasks, gaming, and even content creation.

2. Ease of Installation

The compact M.2 form factor makes installation a breeze, even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. One customer said, "This was my first purchase of an SSD for my HP laptop. It fit into the M.2 slot easily, and I was able to re-install Windows 10 without any issues." Another reviewer appreciated the inclusion of a screw, which made the installation process even smoother.

However, a few users noted that they had to format the drive before it showed up on their system. One user shared, "I didn’t know you have to format it; otherwise, it won’t show up on the computer. I checked a YouTube video, and it worked perfectly after that." While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re new to SSDs.

3. Durability and Reliability

The HP EX900 Plus is built with 3D NAND Flash technology, which enhances its durability and energy efficiency. Many customers have expressed confidence in the product’s longevity, with one stating, "I hope this brand will last at least 5 years. So far, so good!" Another user mentioned, "Not my first one of these; they plug in easily, and this one actually included a screw."

That said, some users reported issues with cloning drives larger than 512GB. One reviewer shared, "After trying multiple clone software, none of the free versions worked except Macrium Reflect. The trial version worked, but you have to adjust the partitions manually." While this isn’t a fault of the SSD itself, it’s worth noting if you plan to clone your existing drive.

4. Value for Money

The HP EX900 Plus offers excellent value for its price. Many customers highlighted its affordability compared to other high-performance SSDs. One user said, "The price was very reasonable, and the performance is excellent for the cost." Another reviewer added, "I debated the 512GB size, but since it’s primarily just for the OS, it’s perfect. I re-installed my old HDD for storage, and it works great."

However, if you need more storage for large files or games, you might want to consider a higher-capacity model or an additional SSD for storage.

Final Verdict: Is the HP EX900 Plus Worth It?

The HP EX900 Plus 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD is a solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their system’s storage. Its blazing-fast speeds, ease of installation, and durability make it a reliable option for gamers, professionals, and everyday users. While there are a few minor drawbacks, such as the need to format the drive and potential cloning challenges, these are outweighed by the SSD’s overall performance and value for money.

Strengths:

  • Exceptional speed and performance.
  • Easy to install, even for beginners.
  • Durable and energy-efficient design.
  • Affordable price point.

Weaknesses:

  • May require formatting before use.
  • Cloning larger drives can be tricky.
  • Not the absolute fastest SSD on the market.

If you’re in the market for a high-performance SSD that won’t break the bank, the HP EX900 Plus 512GB M.2 NVMe SSD is definitely worth considering. Whether you’re upgrading an old laptop or building a new PC, this SSD delivers the speed and reliability you need for a seamless computing experience.

My laptop had a 256gb SSD but I could no longer access my data after BITLOCKER froze me out, So I decided to replace my orig drive & reload my OS

THIS WAS MY FIRST PURCHASE OF AN SSD for my HP laptop. My laptop had a 256gb SSD but I could no longer access my data after BITLOCKER froze me out, So I decided to replace my orig drive & reload my OS. The SSD works great and the price was very reasonable.

Seems like every 2 or 3 yrs the SSD goes bad in my desktop

Fit into the M2 slot and let me re-install WIN10. Seems like every 2 or 3 yrs the SSD goes bad in my desktop. Hope this brand will last at least 5yrs

I would caution if you are cloning a drive that is larger than this one though: After trying multiple clone software, none of them would do it (at least the free versions) except Macrium Reflect

Not my first one of these, they plug in easily, and this one actually included a screw. I would caution if you are cloning a drive that is larger than this one though: After trying multiple clone software, none of them would do it (at least the free versions) except Macrium Reflect. I signed up for the trial version and it worked, the only thing to watch out for is adjusting the partitions (which the software does with a couple clicks). My HP laptop from 2022 was bogging down like crazy, even after doubling the memory, so since it came with a mechanical HDD I figured it's gotta go. it now boots in about 30 seconds (slow for an SSD I know , but better than 2 minutes or more that it was doing) I debated the 512 GB size, but since it's primarily just for the OS it should be fine. And I re-installed the old HDD for storage, next purchase will be another SSD for that. PRO TIP: when ordering a custom laptop from HP, spring for the SSD, you'll thank me later.

I checked a video on youtube on how to fix the problem and it finally showed up as a separate storage option

It worked so far… I am not a computer expert so I did not know that you have to format it otherwise it will not show up on the computer. I checked a video on youtube on how to fix the problem and it finally showed up as a separate storage option.
