Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Ease of Use and Setup

One of the standout features of the iDiskk 4TB is its simplicity. Customers rave about how easy it is to set up and use. One reviewer shared, “Download the iDiskk app, plug it in, wait for the device to show up in the app, and tap ‘Backup.’ It’s that simple!” The one-tap backup feature is a huge hit, especially for those who aren’t tech-savvy.

However, some users noted a lack of detailed instructions in the box. “No instructions inside, frustrating,” one customer mentioned. While the process is straightforward, a quick-start guide could have made the experience even smoother for first-time users.

Performance and Speed

When it comes to performance, the iDiskk 4TB delivers. Customers appreciate the speed of data transfers, even when multitasking. One user reported, “I was watching YouTube, playing games, and scrolling through social media while backing up my files, and it didn’t affect the speed at all.”

That said, larger files like videos can take longer to transfer. “Larger files will take longer, but you won’t be waiting hours for everything to upload,” another reviewer noted. While this is expected with large-capacity drives, it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re dealing with extensive video libraries.

Storage Capacity and Reliability

The 4TB storage capacity is a major selling point, and customers love how much they can store. “I’ve put over 2K photos and videos on it from my phone, plus thousands of additional files from my old computer, and I barely made a dent,” one happy user shared.

However, it’s important to note that the actual usable space is around 3.63TB, which is standard for most drives due to formatting. Some users also reported issues with incomplete backups. “It got stuck at 68K photos out of 92K, and only 30K were actually on the drive,” one frustrated customer said. While this isn’t a universal experience, it’s something to consider if you’re transferring a massive amount of data.

Design and Portability

The iDiskk 4TB is praised for its compact and lightweight design, making it ideal for travel or everyday use. “Despite its shape, it’s not heavy, just wish it was thinner,” one reviewer mentioned. The built-in 2000mAh battery is another plus, ensuring that your data transfers aren’t interrupted by a low battery.

Customer Support and Warranty

With an 18-month warranty and dedicated customer support, iDiskk stands behind its product. However, some users have expressed frustration with the lack of troubleshooting assistance. “It randomly said it couldn’t download, and there was no assistance,” one customer lamented. While the warranty provides peace of mind, better customer support could enhance the overall experience.

Final Verdict

The iDiskk 4TB Apple Certified External Hard Drive is a reliable and versatile storage solution for anyone looking to free up space on their devices. Its massive storage capacity, ease of use, and wide compatibility make it a standout choice. However, it’s not without its flaws. Some users reported issues with incomplete backups and a lack of detailed instructions, which could be improved.

Pros:

  • Massive 4TB storage capacity.
  • Easy one-tap backup feature.
  • Wide compatibility with multiple devices.
  • Compact and portable design.
  • Built-in battery for uninterrupted transfers.

Cons:

  • Actual usable space is around 3.63TB.
  • Larger files can take longer to transfer.
  • Some users experienced incomplete backups.
  • Lack of detailed instructions in the box.

If you’re in the market for a high-capacity external hard drive that’s easy to use and compatible with a wide range of devices, the iDiskk 4TB is a solid choice. Just be mindful of its limitations, especially if you’re transferring a massive amount of data.

Comments from Amazon:

 “Backup Contacts” is self explanatory

Download the iDiskk app, plug it in, wait for the device to show up in the app and tap “Backup” it’ll start backing up everything you’ve got. “Backup Contacts” is self explanatory. Yes! You can leave the app and do other things on your phone while you back everything up (Do not close the app fully ofc, just open another screen, let it run open in the background stack). I was watching Youtube, playing a couple of games on my phone, scrolling through social media and listening to music all while everything was being backed up and it didn’t mess with the speed of the backup or the health of the files. I just checked on it every now and again. Make sure your phone is charged enough to do all of this or you’ll have to stop the backup so you can charge your phone beyond 3% lol. I let my phone to 23% before I got impatient, it finished everything before I got to 20%, which is great considering everything else I was doing on my phone. If you need to stop the backup in the middle, follow the instructions in red that say to tap the “stop” button, wait 10 seconds (it’ll say backup successful) and then go back to the home page and tap “eject”. Obviously snatching the cord out without doing these steps could corrupt or delete of your files. If some of your files don’t get backed up make sure you have iCloud photo backup enabled in settings! That being said, it’s been great so far! I’ve put over 2K photos and videos on it from my phone, then thousands of additional images and documents from my old computer. I checked how much space I have left and I barely made a dent, it’s amazing! Despite its shape it’s not heavy, just wish it was thinner. The whole thing simple to use and it works quickly! Larger files (for me it was videos) will take longer, but you won’t be waiting hours for everything to upload. It doesn’t have 4 full TB for you to access btw, it’s really 3.63TB but considering how much stuff I threw on there and how much space I still have left, I say it’s more than worth it! I used my computer to make sure the files from my phone were still good before dumping them off of my phone and creating some much needed space. If you can spare the money, it’s 100% worth it to get one of these.

Holds a ton of pictures! And videos.

Just randomly said it couldn’t download - no answers-no assistance

Was supposed to be a very simple process and had some issues downloading when it stopped Downloading my pictures onto the unit from my phone. Just randomly said it couldn’t download - no answers-no assistance. Wasted $100 I did not have to waste.

Fantastic price goes along with the speed of downloading data

What is there to dislike, nothing, setup was easy this item did what it said it would. Fantastic price goes along with the speed of downloading data. Reliability is overwhelming not having to worry about losing no replaceable data. Cant go wrong buying this item

No instructions inside, frustrating other than that it's what I needed

It initially seemed to be working well on backing up the 92K photos on my phone

This product will probably work well if you have 10K photos or less to transfer. It initially seemed to be working well on backing up the 92K photos on my phone. It got stuck at 68K and, when I checked details on my computer, it indicated only 30K are actually on the drive. I have photos backed up to Google Photos, One Drive and Amazon Photos but my goal is to transfer photos to an accessible external drive. My search continues.
