JOIOT 1TB SSD Internal Solid State Hard Drive Review: A Budget-Friendly Upgrade with Some Caveats
If you're looking to breathe new life into an aging laptop or desktop, the JOIOT 1TB SSD Internal Solid State Hard Drive might be the upgrade you need. With its 3D NAND technology, SATA III 6Gb/s interface, and impressive read/write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 450MB/s, this SSD promises faster boot times, quicker application loading, and smoother multitasking. But is it worth your money? Let’s dive into the details based on real customer experiences.
Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
Performance and Speed
One of the standout features of the JOIOT 1TB SSD is its speed. Customers have praised its ability to significantly improve the performance of older systems. For example, one user replaced an 8-year-old laptop’s original hard drive with this SSD and noticed a dramatic reduction in disk activity, shifting the bottleneck from the hard drive to the CPU. Another user transferred 8,687 JPEG pictures in under 4 minutes on an Intel Mac, showcasing the drive’s impressive transfer speeds.
However, some users reported issues when using the SSD with M1 Macs. One customer experienced repeated drive ejections when transferring large batches of files, though the issue resolved after switching to an Intel Mac and then back. This suggests potential compatibility quirks with certain systems.
Ease of Installation and Compatibility
The JOIOT SSD is praised for its straightforward installation process. Many users found it easy to install in both laptops and desktops, with one reviewer noting that Windows loaded "extremely fast" after installation. The drive’s 2.5-inch form factor and SATA III interface make it compatible with a wide range of devices, though it’s worth double-checking compatibility with newer systems like M1 Macs.
Durability and Build Quality
Built with 3D NAND technology, the JOIOT SSD is designed to be more durable and energy-efficient than traditional hard drives. Customers have reported no issues with shock resistance or noise interference, making it a reliable choice for everyday use. However, there are concerns about long-term durability. One user reported that their drive failed after just 5 months of use, highlighting potential quality control issues.
Customer Support and Warranty
This is where the JOIOT SSD falls short. Several customers expressed frustration with the lack of accessible customer support and warranty services. One user detailed a lengthy process to get a replacement for a failed drive, involving multiple steps and delayed responses. While the replacement arrived quickly, the overall experience left much to be desired. If reliable customer support is a priority for you, this might be a dealbreaker.
Conclusion: Is the JOIOT 1TB SSD Worth It?
The JOIOT 1TB SSD Internal Solid State Hard Drive offers excellent value for its price, delivering impressive speed and performance upgrades for older systems. Its ease of installation and compatibility with a wide range of devices make it a solid choice for budget-conscious users. However, potential compatibility issues with newer systems like M1 Macs and the lack of reliable customer support are significant drawbacks.
If you’re willing to take a chance on a budget-friendly SSD and don’t mind navigating potential warranty hurdles, the JOIOT 1TB SSD is a worthwhile investment. However, if you prioritize long-term reliability and robust customer support, you might want to explore other options.
Final Verdict
A great budget SSD for performance upgrades, but proceed with caution if you need dependable after-sales service.

Comments from Amazon:
Very look works right away. Make sure you activate it once you installs it.
I build and repair laptops, I am not a performance tester but Windows loads extremely fast and I have had no performance issues with this drive in the laptops I have used them in and have had no complaints on performance. I would recommend this drive to anyone unless you have to have the fastest, most expensive gaming drive on the planet and it must be name brand. Sometimes budget is not a bad thing.
The product works great, but when I went to find the provider there were no resources available for troubleshooting or customer service.
Used to upgrade 8 yr old laptop by replacing original HD with this unit. Improved the speed of the laptop significantly, bottleneck is now the CPU rather than the HD. With original HD disk access was running at 100% for significant periods, slowing down machine. Now CPU is running at 99% and disk activity percentage much lower.
Purchased drive in Mar '24 and drive failed in Aug '24. There is no actual path to get warranty service for anything purchased from JOIOT. Amazon points you to their website which is just a static set of product brochures with no warranty or service info/path. JOIOT's seller page on Amazon says to e-mail them but that gets ignored (waited 20 days for a reply). So, when your drive fails, here's how to address it: 1. Go to your Returns & Orders view and locate the entry for when you bought the drive 2. Click on View Invoice 3. On the line listing the JOIOT item, click on "Seller Profile" 4. On the Seller Profile page, click on "Ask a Question" which is to the right of the Seller Profile 5. I asked what the RMA process is for a dead SSD. 6. They will respond with: Thank you for your support and order. Please select the after-sales service you need to handle in the after-sales window. Best wishes JOIOT However, there is no such after-sales window that I can find on Amazon nor on JOIOT's website. So, I tell them the same and they will ask for your address and send you a replacement. The only good news in the process is that the replacement arrived within three days (via Amazon). I can't stress enough this is not how to do business and will avoid JOIOT going forward (and have no plans to rely on the replacement drive).
Great product and free shipping, what else can you ask for?
Liked the price and ease of installing it in an external case. I used it on an M1 Mac Mini and it initialized just fine. When I transferred more than 100 pictures at a time the drive ejected without warning. I rebooted, repeated the same process and it ejected again. I stuck it in a different case and the same thing happened again. So I exchanged cables to make sure that it is not the case and/or cable. Then I thought it might be the speed of the M1. I then used the external drive in an Intel Mac and the drive showed up on the desktop and I transferred 8,687 jpeg pictures in less than 4 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised as to the speed and performance. Then I plugged it back into the M 1 and all the pics were there and it worked perfectly.
