Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
1. Performance and Speed
One of the standout features of the HWAYO external hard drive is its blazing-fast transfer speeds. Customers have praised its ability to move large files quickly and efficiently. One user mentioned, “It does as advertised—fast, efficient, and portable.” Another customer uploaded a video showcasing the impressive transfer speeds, which further validates the drive’s performance claims.
However, not all experiences were flawless. One user reported issues with the drive not showing up in their Mac’s Finder after prolonged use, which led to data access problems. While this seems to be an isolated incident, it’s worth noting that compatibility issues can occasionally arise, especially with older systems.
2. Ease of Use and Compatibility
The plug-and-play functionality of this drive has been a major hit among users. Many appreciate the simplicity of connecting the drive and using it immediately without any complicated setup. One happy customer shared, “This drive is asleep and simple. No confusing buttons. Just plug and play. Great design. I’m very happy with it.”
The Type-C port is another highlight, offering flexibility for users with multiple devices. A reviewer noted, “What I like about this drive is it has a Type-C port so you’re not locked into needing a specific plug only provided by the manufacturer. It works on my iPad, iPhone, and laptop.”
On the flip side, one user expressed frustration with compatibility issues between their MacBook and an older Dell computer. While the product description claims universal compatibility, it’s important to ensure your devices meet the necessary requirements to avoid potential hiccups.
3. Design and Portability
The ultra-slim and lightweight design of the HWAYO external hard drive has received widespread praise. Its compact size makes it easy to carry around, and the aluminum enclosure adds a touch of durability. One user even personalized their drive, naming it after their favorite musician and adding a custom icon.
However, some users noted that the drive’s auto sleep function, while energy-efficient, can be a bit inconvenient if you frequently need to access your files. If you’re someone who prefers constant access, this might be a minor drawback.
4. Storage Capacity and Reliability
With 750GB of storage, this drive offers plenty of space for most users. One customer shared how it transformed their Amazon Insignia Fire TV experience, stating, “This external hard drive added a lot of space to my Amazon Insignia Fire TV, and now it operates freely and smoothly with the extra space.”
That said, it’s important to remember that the actual usable capacity is slightly less than the advertised 750GB due to formatting and system requirements. This is standard for most storage devices, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re working with large files.
Final Verdict: Is the HWAYO 750GB Portable External Hard Drive Worth It?
The HWAYO 750GB Portable External Hard Drive is a solid choice for anyone in need of reliable, portable storage. Its fast transfer speeds, sleek design, and wide compatibility make it a versatile option for a variety of users. While there are occasional compatibility issues and minor inconveniences like the auto sleep function, the overall performance and ease of use outweigh these drawbacks.
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly external hard drive that delivers on its promises, the HWAYO 750GB is definitely worth considering. Just make sure to double-check compatibility with your devices to avoid any potential issues.

Comments from Amazon:
This is one of the best terabyte hard drives I've ever bought . very easy connection to my MacBook Pro. I even named it after my favorite lead singer. May James Keenan of the band Tool. MJK is the hard drive name. I even have an icon of the singer when The drive mounts
It works fine
It does as advertised, fast, efficient, and portable.
This drive is asleep and simple. No confusing buttons. Just plug and play. Great design. I’m very happy with it.
I bought an external hard drive bc my Macbook does not have an SD card, but my grandma's very old Dell does. I heard that drives are possibly only made to be compatible with one type of computer, but I don't see that in this product's description. I am annoyed, I have been working on an art project. The equipment was already acting funky from the start, with no way to eject it but I pushed through. anyways I cant access my footage anymore, nor does the drive show up in my finder/files. RIP to my work.
What I like about this drive is it has a type c port so you’re not locked in to needing a specific plug only provided by the manufacturer. It works on my iPad, iPhone and laptop. Great price and I hope it works for as long as I own it. I uploaded a video of the transfer speed.
This external hard drive added a lot of space to my amazon insignia fire TV and now it operates freely and smoothly with the extra space now I can download apps and not worry about how much space is being taken up by the apps.
