Purchased this to improve performance on a few games for my Xbox One (I have the very first edition). I'm providing some context for this game as as precursor to the review to help illustrate the impact adding this SSD had. The game is PUBG, a royal rumble type free for all where you drop into a map out of a plane and guide your parachute to a landing spot and begin collecting supplies. There are several steps to the load process when you sign in. The first is a pre-lobby where all the players are collected into a single game. You wait here for up to a minute. Then you are put into an airplane to fly over the map. You decide when to jump out and guide your parachute to your desired location to start looting. Occasionally, because they still claim beta version, you get booted and have to reload the match. The loading of each of these phases takes time and can make a difference in game play. Before adding this SSD, I would get to the pre-lobby with perhaps 15-20 seconds. Now I usually have 50 seconds or more to run around. When I would jump from the plane, I would land amid buildings that look like big blogs on the ground and have to wait up to 30 seconds before I could go in and actually see the loot. If not careful I could also end up getting literally stuck in the walls, tables, sinks, etc. because it was rendering with me in the picture. This created situations in which other players with faster processors got to gear faster and took me out of the game or I just had to abandon the game and restart to get unstuck. Finally, if I ended up getting booted it could take as much as 5 minutes to get back in the game. My character would keep moving if I was moving, stay in a vehicle if I was riding, etc. My squad would have to babysit my avatar until I got back in or just leave me due to being in a high risk situation. With the SSD, this relaunch time is down to about 60 seconds. I hope that goes to zero because the game stabilizes, but it's a huge improvement. Overall, it saved me having to purchase a brand new Xbox and has plenty of room for the few games I do play. Worked well and VectoTech offered a free case after my purchase, which I only just replied to and can't guarantee everyone gets.
Edit: Been using this drive for 4 years and it is still going strong. I've been recommending this company ever since. Recently I purchased 8TB for my Macbook Pro 2019 running macOS Catalina and 4TB one for my Xbox. Speeds are faster than before with USB-C. I’ve been using it for some time now, so here is a list of pros and cons. Pros: 1. Easy to use, just plug it in. 2. Fast transfer speeds. I used BlackMagic speed test and I got 416Mb/s write speed and 421MB/s read speed (screenshot attached). 3. Slick look. 4. Lightweight (it's only 3.8oz) 5. Shock resistant, it’s a plus when you move around a lot. Cons: 1. Price. Well, it's an SSD, all of SSDs are pricier than magnetic disk counterparts. I needed the reliability and really wanted the speed, so had to pay a bit more. 2. Comes in black. I can see from the picture that it comes also in white and grey, which would match better. Hopefully they will come out soon. Test: Macbook Pro 2015 Retina used for testing, 3 video files ~4.5GB each. Write takes 42 seconds, so it's 13.5GB * 1024 / 42 = 329MB/s Read is 31 seconds, which amounts to ~445Mb/s. I guess speed could be less, if I were copying a lot of small files, but that's tied to particularities of the file system.
C'est le disque SSD externe ayant la plus grande capacité que j'ai pu trouver. On ne trouve l'équivalent qu'avec les disques à plateau qui requièrent une alimentation électrique autre que le simple fil USB C. Le prix est élevé mais au moment de l'achat, il n'avait pas de concurrence. Si il s'avère aussi endurant qu'il est spacieux, compact, rapide et silencieux, j'aurai fait une très bonne affaire malgré son prix.
Funcionó muy bien para MacBook
Don't bother with this one if purchasing outside of the US. After sales structure is useless. The USB cable arrives so tightly wrapped that it's sure to have incurred some damage. Low and behold once you connect the device it randomly disconnects because the USB cable is faulty. The seller does not deal with overseas customers. The only option you are given is to return the product to Amazon as faulty, get a refund and repurchase the same item. This would be very inconvenient if you already start transferring data across and then the flimsy temperamental cable fails.
Too soon to say if the drive has a good life span but it formatted very quickly and has been backing up my data continuously since it arrived.
I have a Synology Network Attached Storage (NAS) device that is setup with 1 drive fault tolerance and It is backed up to the cloud but I wanted to have something I could grab quickly and go if I needed to and know my data on this drive would not only be encrypted but accessible when I need it. This drive should work nicely for this intended purpose. I am using it to mirror about 5TB of data and I wanted something faster and more reliable than a Spinner. This also allows me to be fully in compliance with the 3-2-1 rule. 3 copies - 2 different types of mediums/equipment - and one location being offsite, my NAS HDDs, This External SSD, and an offsite cloud provider. This doesn't matter much if both local mediums get destroyed but that's why I have an offsite cloud too. Also the slightly faster speeds will allow me to access data a little quicker locally if I need to which will be nice. Overall 8tb for a little more than buying a cheap enclosure and a data internal ssd myself. M2s are a lot faster but also easily cost twice as much as this and 3 years warranty seems fine for the price difference of building my own. If you have more than 4tb and don't want to use multiple drives and want some speed this works for now.
