Addlink G55 1TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD Review: A Speed Demon for Gamers and Creators
The Addlink G55 1TB PCIe Gen5 NVMe M.2 SSD is a cutting-edge storage solution designed for gamers, photographers, video editors, and designers who demand top-tier performance. With sequential read speeds of up to 10,200 MB/s and write speeds of up to 8,300 MB/s, this SSD is a game-changer, offering speeds 20x faster than traditional SATA SSDs. Built with PCIe 5.0 technology, it’s compatible with the latest Intel Core 13th-14th Gen and AMD Ryzen 7000-9000 series processors, ensuring future-proof performance.
The G55 features a low-power, energy-efficient TSMC 7nm process controller, which prevents overheating and extends battery life, making it ideal for laptops and compact systems. Its ultra-slim, single-sided design (just 2.3mm thick) ensures easy installation in smaller devices, while Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology enhances random read/write speeds for faster loading and smoother multitasking.
Backward compatible with PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 slots, the G55 is a versatile choice for gamers, creators, and AI enthusiasts. It’s built with 3D TLC NAND flash, operates within a temperature range of 0°C to 70°C, and boasts a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1.5 million hours. Plus, it comes with a five-year warranty and an easy-to-follow installation guide.
Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
Speed and Performance
The Addlink G55 is a speed demon, and customers are raving about its performance. One user noted, "The read speed being at just short of 7000 MB/s is no fault of the drive as the motherboard I purchased only supports gen 4." Even with a PCIe 4.0 motherboard, the G55 delivers impressive speeds, showcasing its potential for future upgrades.
Another reviewer praised its blazing-fast performance, stating, "Amazing speed 👏." Whether you're gaming, editing videos, or multitasking, the G55 ensures smooth and lag-free operation.
Build Quality and Design
The G55’s beefy heatsink is a standout feature, keeping the SSD cool even under extreme conditions. One customer highlighted this, saying, "The beefy heatsink on this should keep the SSD cool under extreme conditions." This is particularly important for high-performance tasks that generate significant heat.
The SSD’s ultra-slim, single-sided design also makes it easy to install in compact systems. Its attractive appearance on the motherboard adds a touch of style to your build, as one user mentioned, "Great drive seems solid and is attractive on the motherboard with that big heatsink."
Compatibility and Future-Proofing
The G55’s backward compatibility with PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 slots is a major advantage. One user shared their experience, "I did not realize that until after I had ordered the gen 5 drive.. but at least I am ready for any upgrades later :)." This makes the G55 a smart investment for those planning to upgrade their systems in the future.
However, it’s worth noting that to achieve the full 10,200 MB/s read speed, you’ll need a PCIe 5.0-compatible motherboard. If your system only supports PCIe 4.0, you’ll still get excellent performance, but not the drive’s maximum potential.
Durability and Warranty
With a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 1.5 million hours and a five-year warranty, the G55 is built to last. Customers appreciate the peace of mind that comes with such a robust warranty, ensuring their investment is protected for years to come.
Conclusion: Is the Addlink G55 Worth It?

The beefy heatsink on this should keep the ssd cool under extreme conditions. The read speed being at just short of 7000 MB/s is no fault of the drive as the motherboard I purchased only supports gen 4. (The first board I was contemplating purchasing was a better/newer chipset and was gen 5 but then budget demons caught up to me and I had to go for a B760m-plus wifi instead. I did not realize that until after I had ordered the gen 5 drive.. but at least I am ready for any upgrades later :) ) Great drive seems solid and is attractive on the motherboard with that big heatsink.
