Crucial P310 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD Review: A Speed Demon for Gamers and Professionals

The Crucial P310 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD is a powerhouse storage solution designed to elevate your PC's performance to new heights. With sequential read speeds of up to 7,100 MB/s and write speeds of 6,000 MB/s, this SSD is a game-changer for gamers, creative professionals, and power users alike. Built with Micron’s cutting-edge 3D NAND technology, it offers reliability, durability, and blazing-fast speeds. Whether you're upgrading your gaming rig, boosting your workstation, or expanding your console storage, the Crucial P310 promises to deliver.

Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Performance: Lightning-Fast Speeds

The standout feature of the Crucial P310 is its Gen4 performance. Customers rave about the noticeable speed boost in everyday tasks and gaming. One user mentioned, "Applications load in a flash, and file transfers are lightning fast." Another gamer noted, "Every game starts up pretty quickly, with loading times almost instant." The SSD’s ability to handle demanding workloads, such as video editing and large file transfers, has also been praised.

However, some users pointed out that while the speeds are impressive, the difference between 7,100 MB/s and higher-end 7,500 MB/s drives might not be noticeable in real-world usage. As one reviewer put it, "It’s only a 400 MB/s difference, and I doubt it would be noticeable."

Installation and Compatibility: Easy Setup

Installation is a breeze, according to multiple reviews. The M.2 2280 form factor fits seamlessly into desktops, laptops, and even gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5. One user shared, "Installation was easy, but I was shocked by how small it was." Another customer highlighted its backward compatibility with Gen3 systems, stating, "It works flawlessly on my refurbished PC, giving me double the speed of my old Gen3 SSD."

That said, some users noted the need for a separate heatsink, especially for high-performance systems. A reviewer mentioned, "For this model, you will need a separate heatsink. I used Sabrent, and so far, so good."

Durability and Reliability: Built to Last

The Crucial P310’s Micron 3D NAND technology ensures long-term reliability. Users have reported no issues with the drive’s health or performance over time. One customer said, "The health status is at 100%, and it’s been running flawlessly since day one." Another user praised its power efficiency, stating, "It’s very power-efficient, which is a huge plus for my laptop."

However, some users expressed disappointment with the lack of a 4TB option. A reviewer lamented, "I wish Crucial offered a 4TB version of this model. The highest it goes is 2TB."

Value for Money: Affordable Performance

The Crucial P310 is widely regarded as an excellent value for its performance. One customer shared, "I snagged two of these at $75.81 each. Speeds on PCIe 4 are as advertised—7,100 MB/s." Another user compared it to higher-priced alternatives, stating, "It’s more cost-effective than other NVMe drives with slightly higher speeds. Crucial is a reliable brand, and this SSD delivers."

That said, some users felt that the price could be more competitive, especially during sales events. A reviewer noted, "This was a Black Friday purchase, and I’m glad I picked it up. It’s fast and reliable, but I wish it were a bit cheaper."

Conclusion: Is the Crucial P310 Worth It?

The Crucial P310 1TB PCIe Gen4 NVMe M.2 SSD is a stellar choice for anyone looking to upgrade their storage solution. Its blazing-fast speeds, easy installation, and reliable performance make it a top contender in the Gen4 SSD market. While it may lack a 4TB option and require a separate heatsink for optimal performance, these minor drawbacks are outweighed by its overall value and efficiency.

Whether you're a gamer, creative professional, or business user, the Crucial P310 delivers on its promises. If you’re in the market for a high-performance SSD that won’t break the bank, the Crucial P310 is a solid investment.

The price looked too good to be true

I was somewhat skeptical about this when I saw it on Amazon. The price looked too good to be true. However I read the details and double checked on Google. So jumped on it and installed in my Playstation 5 (original disk) and it works great. Plenty of storage for games and fast downloads. Installation was easy but was shocked by how small it was. For this model you will need a separate heatsink I used Saberant and so far so good.

So, after researching their website online, they had the P310 PCIe 2TB listed for my laptop

I got a Dell XPS 15 and tried using a Crucial P3 PCIe 2TB that did not work. So, after researching their website online, they had the P310 PCIe 2TB listed for my laptop. I bought it from Amazon at an awesome price compared to what Dell and Crucial was selling it for, and it works. The transfer speeds are like wow, fast. Boot up time, browsing, and other computer chores are amazingly fast. Love it and do recommend.

I am using it in an external case for all of my samples and backups for my Macbook

This was a black friday purchase and I am glad that I picked it up. I am using it in an external case for all of my samples and backups for my Macbook. This work flawlessly. It's fast and reliable.

81 a piece

Snagged two of these at $75.81 a piece. Speeds on PCie 4 are as advertised 7100mbs The other is on a PCie 3 bus, so roughly half the speed 3500mbs or so as expected. No installation or recognition issues. I installed on new system I bult AM4 Ryzen 7 5700x/64gb/7800XT Seemed more cost effective to me. You can get NVMe's at 7500mbs for more $$. But it is only a 400mbs difference. I would think it would not even be noticeable, I could be wrong, but this is my take. Crucial is a good brand, from a reliability standpoint. I recommend.

The highest it goes up to is 2TB space with PCIe Gen4 speeds up to 7,100 MB/s reads

The performance is pretty good and health status is at 100% and I made this my new driver to storage all my video games from Steam, Visual Novel games, emulators for older consoles to play good old games, and every game starts up pretty quickly with loading times almost quick base on the game that takes good use of it's crazy speeds to read data and the writes are fast when i clicks save its done asap! I love to grab another one of these drivers but in 4TB version but sadly Crucial doesn't offer a 4TB version on this Crucial P310 model. The highest it goes up to is 2TB space with PCIe Gen4 speeds up to 7,100 MB/s reads. The writes speeds are around 6000MB/s last i check the specs for it. If i grab another one i love to make it my boot driver next time over it's P3 brother model with 5000MB/s speeds. I love to get a faster boot up time then with P3 brother from Crucial.
