Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Performance: Speed That Delivers

One of the standout features of the Fikwot FX991 is its incredible speed. Customers have reported read speeds of 7092MB/s and write speeds of 6059MB/s, which are remarkably close to the advertised numbers. One user noted, “I got 7092MB/s for read and 6059MB/s for write, very close to the claimed number.”

For gamers, this translates to faster game loading times and smoother gameplay. A PS5 user shared, “Works well and easy to install in the PS5. The games load quickly, and there’s no lag whatsoever.”

However, it’s worth noting that the actual speed may vary depending on the device. A PlayStation 5 user mentioned, “It’s not 7,300 Mbps; it’s only 6,000 Mbps for reading as that is what PlayStation is identifying it as.”

Installation and Compatibility: A Breeze to Set Up

The Fikwot FX991 is praised for its ease of installation. One customer shared, “The installation process was straightforward, and the drive fit perfectly in my compact setup.” Another user added, “Very easy to install. The pre-installed heat sink is very nice.”

Its compatibility with a wide range of devices, including laptops, desktops, and gaming consoles, makes it a versatile choice. However, some users pointed out that the drive’s performance is limited on PCIe 3.0 devices. “My CPU only supports PCIe 3.0, so this is running at PCIe 3.0 speeds,” one user explained.

Thermal Management: Keeping Cool Under Pressure

The SSD’s thermal management system has received high praise. Despite being used in compact setups with limited airflow, the drive maintains optimal temperatures. “The thermal management is impressive. Even in my micro PC, the drive stays cool,” one user noted.

The built-in graphite heatsink and auto-adaptive temperature adjustment system ensure consistent performance, even during extended use. This is particularly beneficial for gamers and professionals who demand high performance over long periods.

Durability and Longevity: A Mixed Bag

While the Fikwot FX991 is built to last, some users expressed concerns about its QLC NAND technology. QLC (Quad-Level Cell) drives are known for being less robust than SLC (Single-Level Cell) or TLC (Triple-Level Cell) drives. One user explained, “QLC drives have more layers of bit storage, which means they’re more prone to degradation over time.”

However, the same user added, “To actually ‘burn out’ a cell, you’d need to use it full-time every day for like 10 years. So, I’m not too worried.” With a 5-year warranty and a 600TBW rating, the FX991 offers decent longevity for most users.

Conclusion: Is the Fikwot FX991 Worth It?

The Fikwot FX991 M.2 NVMe SSD 1TB is a high-performance storage solution that delivers on its promises. Its blazing-fast speeds, excellent thermal management, and wide compatibility make it a top choice for gamers, professionals, and anyone looking to upgrade their system.

However, it’s not without its drawbacks. The QLC NAND technology may raise concerns for users who prioritize long-term durability, and the actual speeds may vary depending on the device.

Final Verdict:

  • Pros

    • Exceptional read/write speeds.
    • Easy installation and wide compatibility.
    • Effective thermal management.
    • Affordable price for the performance.
  • Cons

    • QLC NAND may not be as durable as SLC or TLC.
    • Speeds may be limited on PCIe 3.0 devices.

If you’re looking for a fast, reliable, and future-ready SSD, the Fikwot FX991 is an excellent choice. Just keep in mind its limitations and ensure it’s compatible with your device for the best experience.

I recently installed the Fikwot FX991 M.2 SSD 1TB NVMe SSD in my micro PC, and the performance has been nothing short of exceptional. The installation process was straightforward, and the drive fit perfectly in the compact setup. The read speeds of up to 7100MB/s and write speeds of up to 6100MB/s have drastically improved the overall responsiveness of my system. Boot times are almost instantaneous, applications load incredibly fast, and multitasking feels seamless. Even with heavy workloads, the SSD maintains high performance without any noticeable slowdowns. The thermal management is impressive too. Despite the limited airflow in my micro PC, the drive stays cool, thanks to the built-in heat dissipation features. This ensures consistent performance even during extended use. For anyone looking to boost their micro PC’s performance, the Fikwot FX991 M.2 SSD offers excellent value. Its speed, reliability, and ease of installation make it a top choice for enhancing any compact system’s capabilities.

I'm very pleased, installed and is a lot snappier than my las M2 drive

I took a chance on this one after reading the reviews. I'm very pleased, installed and is a lot snappier than my las M2 drive. I was upgrading from a 2TB to this 4TB. I'm very happy with the performance.

Very good price for how reliable it is

I was skeptical but it is just as fast as shown. Very good price for how reliable it is. Performs better than the Samsung I have in my pc now

Also, my cpu only supports pcie 3

Speeds are great, no issues whatsoever, legit product. Also, my cpu only supports pcie 3.0, so this is running at pcie 3.0 speeds. The only thing that’s lower than other speed tests I see online of this specific model is the very largest file transfer of crystaldiskmark, this caps at about 3200 MB/s which is basically fully saturating the pcie 3.0 interface, however for smaller files this is just as fast as running in pcie 4.0. I didn’t upload the screenshot of crystaldiskmark cause people will think that’s its full speed, but basically I’m getting around 3000 MB/s for every test except random4k, which is 52 read and 145 write, which is very good for pcie3.0 I will note this is a QLC drive, which is a newer technology but theoretically is less robust than lower layered drives. Basically for every cell of storage you have 4 “layers” of bit storage, so while an SLC drive will have one layer that is just two voltage levels to record data, this has 4 levels of voltage measurements, that means any degradation or slightly off with the voltages and you’ll lose storage, however to actually “burn out” a cell, you’d need to basically be using it full time every day for like 10 years to even come close to the theoretical wear required to degrade them enough to become unusable. So, I think I’ll save the money and in 10 years when this tech is probably going to be practically obsolete anyways just buy another one instead of worrying about that.

With that said the quality is great the space is truly 4TB which is fantastic!, unlike other brands where they cheat you on a few gigabytes

So the unit works great in PlayStation 5 however just understand that it's not 7,300 Mbps it's only 6,000 Mbps for reading as that is what PlayStation is identifying it as. With that said the quality is great the space is truly 4TB which is fantastic!, unlike other brands where they cheat you on a few gigabytes. In terms of gameplay the PlayStation works perfectly fine the games work perfectly fine there is no lag there's no problems whatsoever. I do recommend this product. I only gave it a 4 star rating because the company is not telling the truth with regards to the read speed.

I got 7092MB/s for read and 6059MB/s for write, very close to the claimed number
