Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Performance: A Speed Demon

One of the standout features of the Fikwot FX991 is its blazing-fast performance. Customers have reported read speeds of up to 7092MB/s and write speeds of 6059MB/s, which are incredibly close to the advertised numbers. One user mentioned, "I got 7092MB/s for read and 6059MB/s for write, very close to the claimed number." This makes it a fantastic choice for gamers and professionals who need rapid data access and transfer speeds.

However, some users noted that the actual speeds may vary depending on the device. For instance, a PS5 user reported that the SSD only achieved 6000MB/s read speeds, which is still impressive but not quite the advertised 7300MB/s. "So the unit works great in PlayStation 5, however just understand that it's not 7,300 Mbps it's only 6,000 Mbps for reading," they said.

Ease of Installation and Compatibility

The Fikwot FX991 is praised for its easy installation process. One customer shared, "The installation process was straightforward, and the drive fit perfectly in the compact setup." Whether you're upgrading a laptop, desktop, or even a PS5, this SSD is designed to be user-friendly.

Its wide compatibility is another major plus. It works seamlessly with various devices, including gaming consoles like the PS5. A PS5 user mentioned, "Works well and easy to install in the PS5. The games work perfectly fine, and there is no lag or problems whatsoever."

Thermal Management: Keeping Cool Under Pressure

The SSD’s thermal management system has received high praise. Despite being used in compact setups with limited airflow, the drive stays cool thanks to its built-in heat dissipation features. One user noted, "The thermal management is impressive too. Despite the limited airflow in my micro PC, the drive stays cool, ensuring consistent performance even during extended use."

Durability and Longevity

Built with 3D QLC NAND flash memory, the Fikwot FX991 is designed for long-term reliability. However, some users expressed concerns about the QLC technology, which, while newer, is theoretically less robust than older technologies like SLC. One user explained, "QLC drives have 4 layers of bit storage, which means any degradation or slight voltage issues could lead to data loss. But realistically, you’d need to use it full-time for 10 years to see any significant wear."

Despite these concerns, the SSD comes with a 5-year warranty, offering peace of mind for those worried about longevity.

Value for Money

Many customers highlighted the excellent value for money that the Fikwot FX991 offers. One user said, "I was skeptical, but it is just as fast as shown. Very good price for how reliable it is. Performs better than the Samsung I have in my PC now." Another added, "I took a chance on this one after reading the reviews. I'm very pleased, installed and is a lot snappier than my last M.2 drive."

Final Verdict: Is the Fikwot FX991 M.2 NVMe SSD 4TB Worth It?

The Fikwot FX991 M.2 NVMe SSD 4TB is a high-performance storage solution that delivers on its promises for the most part. With blazing-fast speeds, excellent thermal management, and wide compatibility, it’s a fantastic choice for gamers, professionals, and tech enthusiasts. While there are minor concerns about QLC durability and variations in read speeds on certain devices, the overall performance and value for money make it a standout option.

If you're looking to upgrade your storage and boost your system’s performance, the Fikwot FX991 is definitely worth considering. Just keep in mind that your mileage may vary depending on your device’s capabilities.

I'm very pleased, installed and is a lot snappier than my las M2 drive

I took a chance on this one after reading the reviews. I'm very pleased, installed and is a lot snappier than my las M2 drive. I was upgrading from a 2TB to this 4TB. I'm very happy with the performance.

Very good price for how reliable it is

I was skeptical but it is just as fast as shown. Very good price for how reliable it is. Performs better than the Samsung I have in my pc now

Also, my cpu only supports pcie 3

Speeds are great, no issues whatsoever, legit product. Also, my cpu only supports pcie 3.0, so this is running at pcie 3.0 speeds. The only thing that’s lower than other speed tests I see online of this specific model is the very largest file transfer of crystaldiskmark, this caps at about 3200 MB/s which is basically fully saturating the pcie 3.0 interface, however for smaller files this is just as fast as running in pcie 4.0. I didn’t upload the screenshot of crystaldiskmark cause people will think that’s its full speed, but basically I’m getting around 3000 MB/s for every test except random4k, which is 52 read and 145 write, which is very good for pcie3.0 I will note this is a QLC drive, which is a newer technology but theoretically is less robust than lower layered drives. Basically for every cell of storage you have 4 “layers” of bit storage, so while an SLC drive will have one layer that is just two voltage levels to record data, this has 4 levels of voltage measurements, that means any degradation or slightly off with the voltages and you’ll lose storage, however to actually “burn out” a cell, you’d need to basically be using it full time every day for like 10 years to even come close to the theoretical wear required to degrade them enough to become unusable. So, I think I’ll save the money and in 10 years when this tech is probably going to be practically obsolete anyways just buy another one instead of worrying about that.

With that said the quality is great the space is truly 4TB which is fantastic!, unlike other brands where they cheat you on a few gigabytes

So the unit works great in PlayStation 5 however just understand that it's not 7,300 Mbps it's only 6,000 Mbps for reading as that is what PlayStation is identifying it as. With that said the quality is great the space is truly 4TB which is fantastic!, unlike other brands where they cheat you on a few gigabytes. In terms of gameplay the PlayStation works perfectly fine the games work perfectly fine there is no lag there's no problems whatsoever. I do recommend this product. I only gave it a 4 star rating because the company is not telling the truth with regards to the read speed.

I got 7092MB/s for read and 6059MB/s for write, very close to the claimed number
