LinkMore XE600 1TB M.2 2280 SSD Review: A Gamer’s Dream Come True

If you’re looking to upgrade your gaming setup or give your PlayStation 5 (PS5) a performance boost, the LinkMore XE600 1TB M.2 2280 SSD is a solid contender. This PCIe Gen4 NVMe internal solid-state drive promises blazing-fast speeds of up to 7200 MB/s read and 6000 MB/s write, making it a top choice for gamers and tech enthusiasts alike. With a pre-installed aluminum heatsink, 1TB of storage, and compatibility with the PS5, this SSD is designed to deliver seamless performance and reliability.

But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the pros and cons based on real customer experiences.

Pros and Cons of the LinkMore XE600 SSD

1. Performance and Speed

The LinkMore XE600 SSD is a powerhouse when it comes to speed. Customers have praised its PCIe Gen4 NVMe technology, which delivers significantly faster performance compared to older Gen3 drives. One user mentioned that upgrading from a Gen3 SSD to this Gen4 model felt like a 3x improvement in speed, even if the difference wasn’t immediately noticeable in everyday tasks.

For gamers, the SSD’s 7200 MB/s read speed ensures quick load times and smooth gameplay, especially on the PS5. A satisfied customer shared that the SSD was “perfect for gaming” and provided ample storage for their favorite titles.

However, some users noted that the speed difference might not be as noticeable for casual users or those using the SSD for non-intensive tasks. If you’re not pushing the drive to its limits, the extra speed might feel like overkill.

2. Compatibility and Installation

One of the standout features of the LinkMore XE600 SSD is its PS5 compatibility. Several customers confirmed that the SSD worked flawlessly with their PS5 consoles, with the system recognizing it as a valid storage option for installing and playing games.

For PC users, the SSD also proved to be a seamless upgrade. One reviewer shared their experience of replacing a failed Gen3 SSD with the LinkMore XE600, stating that the installation process was “easy and straightforward”. They were able to install Windows without any issues, even without an internet connection, thanks to the clean, bloatware-free setup.

That said, a few users highlighted the importance of checking compatibility before purchasing. One customer mistakenly bought a Gen3 SSD for their PS5, only to realize that the console requires a Gen4 drive. Always double-check your system’s requirements to avoid disappointment.

3. Durability and Build Quality

The LinkMore XE600 SSD is built to last. Customers appreciated its high-quality chips and dust- and shock-resistant design, which ensure reliable performance even during intense gaming sessions. The pre-installed aluminum heatsink was a standout feature, helping to keep the SSD cool and prevent overheating.

One user mentioned that they’ve been using the SSD in their PS5 for over a year, and it’s still running strong. However, they did recommend investing in a better heatsink if you plan to push the drive to its limits, as the included one might not be sufficient for extreme workloads.

4. Value for Money

At a time when NAND prices are dropping, the LinkMore XE600 SSD offers excellent value for money. Customers praised its affordable price point, especially when compared to more expensive brand-name alternatives. One reviewer called it a “real deal”, saving them hundreds of dollars by upgrading their laptop’s SSD instead of buying a new device.

However, some users pointed out that there are better options available in the market now, especially if you’re looking for higher capacities or more advanced features. If you’re on a tight budget, though, the LinkMore XE600 is still a solid choice.

Conclusion: Is the LinkMore XE600 SSD Worth It?

The LinkMore XE600 1TB M.2 2280 SSD is a reliable and high-performance storage solution for gamers and tech enthusiasts. Its blazing-fast speeds, PS5 compatibility, and durable build quality make it a standout choice for anyone looking to upgrade their gaming setup or PC.

Pros:

  • Exceptional read/write speeds (up to 7200 MB/s).
  • PS5 compatible with easy installation.
  • Pre-installed heatsink for efficient cooling.
  • Affordable compared to brand-name alternatives.
  • Durable and reliable performance.

Cons:

  • Speed improvements may not be noticeable for casual users.
  • Included heatsink might not be sufficient for extreme workloads.
  • Requires careful compatibility checks (e.g., Gen4 for PS5).

In summary, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly, high-performance SSD that delivers on its promises, the LinkMore XE600 is a fantastic option. Just make sure it’s compatible with your system, and you’ll be good to go!

Turns out it was somehow blank - wiped clean somehow, probably bad drive

I got the 250gb Gen4 to replace my 256 Gen3 SSD that just faded dark on my laptop. Turns out it was somehow blank - wiped clean somehow, probably bad drive. I simply opened the laptop, replaced the bad SSD with this one, closed it up and suck in a Windows Media Creation USB and it installed with no extra steps. I neglected to download a recovery USB before, but that was the first thing I did this time, and set restore points (I had restore points set on the old one, but they vanished). Since the APU (CPU) holds the Windows product key, nothing else was required. It also allowed me to install Windows without using my internet connection as a local account; I've never seen that in an installation before; maybe because it was a fresh hard drive with no Windows information or manufacturer bloatware in it. It's the cleanest install of Windows I've ever had. The specs on this 4th gen show it is about 3 times faster than my previous 3rd gen (only 1800ws). I'm not into checking details like that and I can't tell the difference in an eye blink. I was going to buy another laptop, but saved hundreds by just replacing the SSD. It wasn't that old (2 years), had 32gb of RAM and a good APU, so this was a real deal. I did disconnect the main battery and the coin battery cables and handled it with rubber gloves to prevent a static discharge. I didn't know if it would be compatible with my motherboard, things have changed and I haven't kept up and I got a newer generation, but it was okay. It is newer and faster, but like most RAM, it will downgrade itself if it has to (if you don't go too far), but it didn't need to for my laptop. What a relief!

2, lo instale en mi PS5 y la misma consola indico que era apto y cumplía con los requisitos para instalar y jugar juegos de PS desde SSD sin problema, recomendado

I'm sure it is a really good card but I didn't do enough research to realize this would not work on my PS5

This product is as advertised. I'm sure it is a really good card but I didn't do enough research to realize this would not work on my PS5. You need a gen4 not a gen3 for your PS5

Easy to install and setup! Installed Windows with no problems! I would recommend this drive!

That being said, I have no complaints with this drive when used in an enclosure like a USB or as a backup drive

Now that NAND prices have plummeted, there are much better options out there for NVMe ssds. That being said, I have no complaints with this drive when used in an enclosure like a USB or as a backup drive.

Over a year now and it’s still running strong! Don't forget to get a GOOD heatsink

Works great for my PS5. Over a year now and it’s still running strong! Don't forget to get a GOOD heatsink. Since it only comes with the SSD.

Easy to install, huge storage, low profile, and oh so affordable

Perfect for gaming. Easy to install, huge storage, low profile, and oh so affordable. Don't waste your money on fancy brand names, this is just as good.
