Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

1. Speed and Performance

Pros:

  • Lightning-Fast Transfers: Customers consistently praise the drive’s 1000MB/s read and write speeds, which have been verified on devices like the Mac Studio and Lenovo ThinkPad T14s G3. One user noted, “I didn’t have much hope for the speed claims, but after validating, they are accurate.”
  • Efficient for Large Files: The SSD is ideal for transferring large files, such as 4K videos, high-resolution photos, and game data. A reviewer mentioned, “It’s large enough to manage ALL my family photos.”

Cons:

  • Heat Generation: Some users reported that the drive gets very hot during extended use, though this is common among high-speed SSDs. One customer noted, “It remained pretty warm just by remaining attached to a device.”

2. Build Quality and Design

Pros:

  • Durable Metal Shell: The zinc alloy shell not only looks premium but also provides excellent heat dissipation and durability. A reviewer described it as “exactly what you'd expect for a fast USB-C drive. The metal body, dual port, and build quality help justify the cost.”
  • Innovative Push-Pull Mechanism: The 3-stage push-pull design ensures a secure connection and protects the USB interface. Users appreciate how easy it is to extend or retract the port with a simple push of a button.

Cons:

  • Size Compatibility Issues: A few users found the Type-C end slightly bulkier than other drives, making it less compatible with certain devices like the iPhone 15 Pro and M2 iPad Pro without an extension cable.

3. Compatibility and Usability

Pros:

  • Dual-Port Versatility: The USB 3.2 Gen2 and Type-C ports make this drive compatible with a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and gaming consoles. One happy customer said, “I love the dual USB 3.2 and Type-C design. It’s super convenient to switch between my MacBook and Android phone.”
  • Plug-and-Play Convenience: No cables or software are required, making it a hassle-free solution for file transfers and backups.

Cons:

  • Initial Setup Challenges: Some users faced issues with the drive not being recognized on certain devices initially. However, this was resolved by using a USB-C extension cable.

Pros:

  • Affordable for the Features: Customers agree that the MOVE SPEED 2TB External SSD offers excellent value for its speed, storage capacity, and build quality. One reviewer summed it up perfectly: “For the money, speed, and storage, it’s A1.”
  • Long-Term Warranty: The 5-year service and lifetime technical support provide peace of mind for buyers.

Didn't have much hope for the speed claims but after validating

Picked this up to be my go to medicat VM storage with tools. Didn't have much hope for the speed claims but after validating. They are accurate. The disk has been tested on a Mac Studio with ExFAT and has consistent 1000MB/s and the same results with a Lenovo Thinkpat T14s G3. Well worth the money, feels good and performs as expected.

I love the dual USB 3

I couldn’t be happier with the MOVE SPEED 1TB flash drive! The 1000MB/s read and write speed is a game-changer, transferring files in seconds. I love the dual USB 3.2 and Type-C design, it’s super convenient to switch between my MacBook and Android phone. The push-pull mechanism feels sturdy, and the lanyard makes it easy to carry around. If you need fast, reliable storage across multiple devices, this drive is a winner!

For the money. Speed. And storage. It’s A1

The metal body, dual port, and build quality help justify the cost

Exactly what you'd expect for a fast USB-C drive. The metal body, dual port, and build quality help justify the cost. If you have slightly more money in the budget and are looking for a premium product, this drive deserves a look. Would absolutely purchase again.

Been waiting a long time for this machine

Large enough to manage ALL my family photos. Been waiting a long time for this machine. Thanks

2 Gen2 + Type C Dual Interface

This short essay is not meant to be a proper tech review with meters and a digital timer; it is just my initial impressions of the USB 3

The drive I purchased was the MOVESPEED 256GB Flash Drive 1000MB/s Read Write Speed, USB 3.2 Gen2 + Type C Dual Interface This short essay is not meant to be a proper tech review with meters and a digital timer; it is just my initial impressions of the USB 3.2 Gen 2 MoveSpeed Flash Drive I received today. I got this drive primarily to back up and share text and word processing files, PDFs, and Photos to and from an iPhone 15 Pro Max, an M2 iPad Pro, and a MacBook Pro, but given its purported speed, I will eventually try using it to backup and share video files. I was curious whether I could tell if the MoveSpeed Flash Drive, rated at 1000MB/s Read/Write Speed, would be perceptively faster than the USB 3.2 Gen 1 drives I purchased. The MoveSpeed was fast but not perceptively faster in copying a bunch of PDFs, but the actual test will be if and when I copy and write large video files. The drive did get very hot when writing, but not perceptively hotter than the USB 3.2 Gen 1 drives. It remained pretty warm just by remaining attached to a device. However, there is one notable issue: The MoveSpeed initially did not show up on either the iPhone 15 Pro or the M2 iPad Pro. The narrow end of the MoveSpeed is much broader than, say, USB 3.2 Gen 1 drives like the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Luxe. However, I had previously purchased male-to-female USB-C 240-watt / 40GB / 8K Video Extension Cables. Connecting the MoveSpeed to the Female end of the Extension Cable and the Male end of the Ext. Cable to the iPhone 15 Pro or the M2 iPad Pro created solid connections, and the file transfers worked as expected. (I could have removed the phone and/or tablet from its case, but this would be too much of a hassle when I try to get several things done under a time crunch.) Note: As is typical, the MoveSpeed came preformatted as an ExFAT drive. It can also be reformatted as an Apple File System Drive or an MS-DOS (FAT) Drive.
