BOSGAME P3 Mini PC Gaming Review: A Compact Powerhouse with Some Caveats

The BOSGAME P3 Mini PC is a compact yet powerful gaming and productivity machine that promises to deliver top-tier performance in a small form factor. With its AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, this mini PC is designed to handle everything from AAA gaming to intensive multitasking. But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the pros and cons based on real customer experiences.

Pros and Cons of the BOSGAME P3 Mini PC

Performance: A Mixed Bag

The AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX processor and AMD Radeon 680M integrated graphics make this mini PC a beast on paper. Many users praised its ability to handle everyday tasks, multitasking, and even light gaming with ease. One user noted that the device is "nice and fast" and appreciated its quick boot-up time, which was 5 seconds faster than their older Intel NUC.

However, performance isn’t flawless. Some users reported issues with thermal throttling, especially under heavy workloads. One reviewer described the cooling system as "completely inadequate", leading to system freezes and shutdowns even during startup. This is a significant drawback for a device marketed as a gaming powerhouse.

Build Quality and Design: Compact but Flawed

The BOSGAME P3 Mini PC earns high marks for its compact and sleek design. Users appreciated its small footprint, making it ideal for home offices, gaming setups, or even portable use. The inclusion of a VESA mount is a nice touch, allowing users to attach the PC to the back of a monitor for a clean setup.

However, the build quality has its shortcomings. Some users found the disassembly process confusing, with unclear instructions for accessing the SSD and RAM slots. Additionally, there were concerns about the device being pre-owned or refurbished, as one user discovered errors in the Event Viewer dating back several months before their purchase.

Connectivity and Usability: Mostly Reliable

The BOSGAME P3 shines in terms of connectivity. Users praised the stable Bluetooth and WiFi 6E performance, as well as the dual 2.5Gbps LAN ports and USB4.0 support. The ability to connect up to three displays simultaneously (via HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort, and USB4.0) is a standout feature for multitaskers and gamers alike.

On the usability front, the device is generally quiet and cool during normal operation. However, some users encountered power management issues, such as long recovery times from sleep mode or unexpected reboots. These issues seem to stem from the motherboard’s power management system, which could be a dealbreaker for some.

Software and Support: Hit or Miss

The BOSGAME P3 comes with Windows 11 Pro pre-installed, and users appreciated the bloatware-free experience. One reviewer mentioned that the installation and activation process was smooth, taking only 20 minutes including updates.

However, customer support leaves much to be desired. The lack of phone support and reliance on email communication with a Chinese-based team has frustrated some users. Additionally, the discovery of pre-existing errors in the Event Viewer has raised questions about the device’s history and quality control.

Conclusion: Is the BOSGAME P3 Mini PC Worth It?

The BOSGAME P3 Mini PC is a compelling option for those seeking a compact, high-performance machine for gaming, multitasking, or productivity. Its powerful specs, advanced connectivity options, and sleek design make it a standout in the mini PC market.

However, it’s not without its flaws. Issues with thermal throttling, power management, and customer support may deter some users. Additionally, the unclear disassembly process and concerns about refurbished units add to the list of potential drawbacks.

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a mini PC that delivers solid performance in a small package, the BOSGAME P3 is worth considering—especially if you can snag it at a discounted price. However, if you need a device for heavy gaming or intensive workloads, you might want to explore other options with better cooling and support.

didn't run 3A game on this unit so not sure how fast it could go with gaming

the overall performance is good. didn't run 3A game on this unit so not sure how fast it could go with gaming. the BT and WIFI connectivity is stable. and the device is quite, cool, small. occasionally I encounter issue with power management, if the device went into sleep, when waking up, several times the device took a real long time to get recovered, there were some occasion the device reboot instead of woke up, and few times the device took a long time to boot up from shutdown status. having said that, I never see device freeze or bluescreened while using it. It makes feel the hardware must be perfect compatible, the power mgnment is from motherboard, not sure its a flaw with that mini board.

Very easy installation it fits my needs perfectly

I am fairly familiar with this type of computer miniature size running Ubuntu. Very easy installation it fits my needs perfectly. I don't know that it's the fastest computer out there but, frankly, all I'm doing is researching data in my Ham Shack.

Fast computer, a bit noisy but is nice and fast.

You can run geekbench 6 yourself to see how these benchmarks will compare

I got one for someone at work to replace a older big tower computer and liked it enough that I bought one for myself. You can run geekbench 6 yourself to see how these benchmarks will compare. Against the R5 5700X the single core speed is a bit faster while the multicore speed was 10% quicker all while taking very little power.

- Extra HDMI and no Bloatware
- Windows 11 Pro Install was only 20 mins including the Windows updates

The Good: - Nice looking Mini-Computer and the price was right with a $100 off coupon. - Extra HDMI and no Bloatware - Windows 11 Pro Install was only 20 mins including the Windows updates. - Boot-up time to desktop about 5 seconds faster than my Windows 10 Intel NUC - Checking License and activation was no issue (used slmgr /dli at command prompt) Not So Good: - No Phone Support just email over in China - The manual under Disassemble the computer section said to remove 4-screws at bottom to get to ssd and ram but once you remove the bottom section there is another plate with no instructions on how to remove to do a upgrade. - Used the Event Viewer program to check for any errors, only installed this on the 13th 3 days ago and noticed errors going all the way back to March over 4 months ago! - So these must be pre-owned/refurbished machines, Tried the Email for support on this issue but not holding my breath on hearing back. - Understand now why they were giving a $100 off to move these. So long and short I still have over 3 more weeks to return this, may just do a factory re-install and check the Event Viewer again, and upgrading then decide..

 Es muy silencioso

Hasta el momento funciona muy bien, todavía no realicé grandes procesos, pero es lo que esperaba. Es muy silencioso.

The cooling system is completely inadequate for the Ryzen CPU, leading to instant thermal throttling, even during startup

I had high hopes for this mini PC based on the impressive specs, but unfortunately, it is one of the worst-designed computers I’ve ever used. The cooling system is completely inadequate for the Ryzen CPU, leading to instant thermal throttling, even during startup. Performance is so severely impacted that the system becomes unusable, freezing or shutting down under even the lightest workloads. No amount of tweaking settings or external cooling solutions could fix the issue. If you’re considering this mini PC, save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. A good CPU is worthless if the system can't keep it cool. Avoid this at all costs.
