Patriot Memory P310 240GB Internal SSD Review: A Budget-Friendly Powerhouse
The Patriot Memory P310 240GB Internal SSD is a compact yet powerful NVMe PCIe M.2 Gen3 x 4 solid-state drive designed to deliver high-speed performance at an affordable price. With read speeds of up to 1,700MB/s and write speeds of up to 1,000MB/s, this SSD is perfect for upgrading older systems or enhancing the performance of newer builds. Its low-power consumption, advanced error correction, and thermal throttling features make it a reliable choice for gamers, professionals, and casual users alike.
Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
Performance and Speed
One of the standout features of the Patriot P310 is its impressive speed. Customers have consistently praised its ability to breathe new life into older systems. One reviewer noted, "I can tell a difference between this SSD and the old 2.5 SSD that was in the HDD spot. It’s super fast!" Another user highlighted its performance in a Raspberry Pi 5 setup, stating, "More than fast enough for a Raspberry Pi 5, and the price is right!"
The drive’s PCIe Gen3 x 4 interface and NVMe 1.3 technology ensure that it outperforms traditional SATA SSDs, making it an excellent choice for boot drives or primary storage.
Ease of Installation
The Patriot P310 is designed for simplicity. One customer shared their experience: "Installation is simple: Slip it in the onboard slot and hold it with the MOBO screw. I went to Disk Management and initialized it, then created a simple basic volume." This plug-and-play design makes it accessible even for users who aren’t tech-savvy.
However, it’s worth noting that the drive comes with minimal accessories. As one reviewer pointed out, "The drive comes in a small package without anything else: No printed material, guide, screw, etc." While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re new to SSD installations.
Durability and Reliability
Patriot Memory has built a reputation for reliability, and the P310 is no exception. The drive features SmartECC, LDPC, and NANDXtend ECC technologies, which work together to ensure data integrity and extend the lifespan of the NAND Flash. One satisfied customer mentioned, "Time will tell as to reliability, though I do not anticipate issues."
Additionally, the drive’s thermal throttling feature prevents overheating, making it a safe choice for systems with limited airflow.
Value for Money
One of the most frequently mentioned advantages of the Patriot P310 is its affordability. Customers have repeatedly highlighted its unbeatable price-to-performance ratio. "The price is unbeatable for an OS drive," said one reviewer. Another added, "Less than a dime per GB for fast-enough storage."
For those on a budget, the P310 offers a compelling alternative to pricier brands like Samsung or WD. As one user put it, "I did not want to pay the price for a Samsung for the name; Kingston and Crucial/Micron are good, but offer no functional advantages."
Compatibility and Use Cases
The Patriot P310 is compatible with a wide range of systems, including desktops, laptops, and even Raspberry Pi 5 setups. One customer shared, "I’ve bought two of these for Raspberry Pi 5 setups, and both work flawlessly." Another user added it to their Clevo laptop as a secondary SSD, stating, "No problem with the install. More or less just wanted to have a 2nd SSD in the extra M.2 slot."
Its M.2 2280 form factor makes it ideal for space-constrained builds, while its compatibility with Windows and Linux operating systems ensures broad usability.
Conclusion: Is the Patriot P310 Worth It?
The Patriot Memory P310 240GB Internal SSD is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to upgrade their system’s performance without breaking the bank. Its impressive speed, ease of installation, and advanced data protection features make it a reliable option for both casual users and tech enthusiasts.
While it lacks some accessories like screws or guides, its plug-and-play design and affordable price more than make up for it. Whether you’re upgrading an old PC, building a new system, or setting up a Raspberry Pi, the P310 delivers exceptional value and performance.
Final Verdict: If you’re looking for a budget-friendly SSD that doesn’t compromise on speed or reliability, the Patriot P310 is a solid choice. Highly recommended!

Comments from Amazon:
I upgraded an old PC build that had AMD A6 APU in FM2+ socket MOBO, which did not have an M2/NVMe slot, running Win10. The new MOBO supports PCIe 3x4. I picked this Patriot drive based on the good reviews and prior personal experience with Patriot Memory as a company. The drive comes in a small package without anything else: No printed material, guide, screw, etc. None of these are needed anyway. It is PCIe 3x4 with M-key. Installation is simple: Slip it in the onboard slot and hold it with the MOBO screw. I went to Disk management and initialized it, then created a simple basic volume. Now it shows up in 'This PC'. I used the free trial download from Macrium to clone my existing SATA SSD to it, and all is good. I disconnected the old SATA SSD and Win11 Pro boots up fast from the new Patriot disc. Time will tell as to reliability, though I do not anticipate issues. It is very reasonably priced, and the capacity is plenty adequate for my need. Patriot lists a 5-year warranty on their site. It doesn't have a heat sink, and realistically this offers no functional advantage for most people. Comparing apples to apples, in the category of PCIe 3x4 (M-key, non SATA, 480-512GB capacity): I did not want to pay the price for a Samsung for the name; Kingston and Crucial/Micron are good, same for Hynix, but offer no functional advantages; I walked away from WD several years ago for a reason. In the realm of drives, the important deciding factors are function and reliability (Think Data). Keep in mind that actual manufacturers are a lot less than names and brands. In conclusion, I recommend this Patriot drive and would purchase again. Thank you.
I've bought two of these for Raspberry Pi 5 setups and both work flawlessly. Less than a dime per GB for fast-enough storage
More than fast enough for a Raspberry Pi 5, and while I don't know the details of the "Low Power Consumption" claim, if it's true that's also a good reason to choose this stick over the alternatives. And the price is right!
Added a 240GB that I bought some time ago to my Clevo laptop as a 2nd SSD and no problem with the install. More or less just wanted to have a 2nd SSD in the extra M.2 Slot.
Funcionó perfectamente.
I was surprised on how fast this NVMe was.
Bought for an old computer and it is super fast. I can tell a difference between this SSD and the old 2.5 SSD that was in the HDD spot. Name brand. Solid and will buy again. The price is unbeatable for a OS drive.
