The Seagate Exos ST24000NM000C 24TB 7.2K RPM SATA 6Gb/s 512e 3.5in Enterprise Hard Drive (Renewed) is a high-capacity storage solution designed for enterprise environments, data centers, and power users who need reliable and massive storage. With 24TB of space, a 7200 RPM rotational speed, and SATA 6Gb/s interface, this renewed hard drive promises to deliver exceptional performance for data-intensive tasks. But is it worth the investment, especially as a refurbished product? Let’s dive into the details based on real customer experiences.
Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
1. Storage Capacity and Performance
The 24TB storage capacity is undoubtedly the star feature of this hard drive. Customers have praised its ability to handle large datasets, backups, and media libraries with ease. One user mentioned, "If space for videos, music, and pics is what you need, this will more than get the job done." The 7200 RPM rotational speed ensures quick access to data, though some users noted that it’s not the fastest drive on the market. However, for bulk storage, it performs admirably.
2. Noise and Heat Output
Many customers highlighted the drive’s quiet operation. One reviewer stated, "Silent, no clicking noises at an extremely audible level, and the heat output is nothing to worry about." This makes it suitable for environments where noise and heat management are critical, such as home offices or small server setups.
3. Build Quality and Packaging
The renewed drives come with exceptional packaging, which has been a pleasant surprise for many buyers. One customer described the packaging as "better than new drives I've purchased," comparing it to a newborn wrapped in a blanket. The drive is securely enclosed in static-free materials, bubble wrap, and multiple layers of boxes, ensuring it arrives in pristine condition.
4. Reliability and Durability
While many users reported positive experiences, there are mixed opinions about the reliability of renewed drives. One customer shared, "We have 12 of these renewed HDDs for video storage. All have passed a full format and have been in use for up to 1.5 years with no complaints." However, another user faced a failure within months of purchase, stating, "The drive spins up, but no OS can find and mount it." This highlights the inherent risk of purchasing refurbished hardware, as reliability can vary.
5. Value for Money
For those willing to take the risk, the renewed Seagate Exos drives offer significant savings compared to buying new. One satisfied buyer said, "I don't know why I'd pay full price when high-quality refurbs like this are available." However, others cautioned against the gamble, with one reviewer advising, "Don't buy refurbished hard drives... At least that has been my experience."
Conclusion: Is It Worth It?
The Seagate Exos ST24000NM000C 24TB 7.2K RPM SATA 6Gb/s 512e 3.5in Enterprise Hard Drive (Renewed) is a mixed bag. On one hand, it offers unparalleled storage capacity, quiet operation, and excellent packaging, making it a compelling choice for bulk storage needs. On the other hand, the risk of potential failures and the lack of long-term warranty support can be a dealbreaker for some.
Final Verdict: If you’re comfortable with the inherent risks of refurbished hardware and need a cost-effective solution for large-scale storage, this drive is worth considering. However, if reliability and long-term peace of mind are your top priorities, investing in a new drive might be the safer option.

Comments from Amazon:
This is my second purchase from the Amazon Renewal Store (additional, not replacement). The drives are quiet and work as designed. I have them in a 8-bay cabinet (2 down, 6 to go!). Not only do they function like new, the packaging is better than new drives I've purchased. Ever see a newborn wrapped up in a blanket? This was better. The drive is in a static-free, sealed envelope, with that in a form-fitting, almost hermetically sealed bubble wrap, tightly secured in a box, and that box in the shipping box. The care and attention to detail... You can purchase with confidence.
I purchased the 24TB drive back in October 2024, now in Feb 2025 the drive seems to have failed. It spins up but no OS (OSX, Windows, Linux, etc) can find and mount the drive. Seagate told me to contact selling Vendor (Amazon) and Amazon tells me since the return 90 day is expired that I have to contact Seagate. I am now in a loop. My feeling is that this is a failure of the drive not a return for reason. So DANGER on purchasing "renewed" drives. They are NOT worth the risk!!
We have 12 of these renewed HDD for Video storage. All have passed a FULL Format and used up to 1.5 yr. of use so far. They are storage drives inside workstation tower so they run anytime PC is on, we edit on NVMe drives. No complaints.
I purchased this refurbished 24 tb drive, and immediately ran a full read/write surface test with Hard Disk Sentinel. Zero bad sectors, a couple hours of power on time. I don't know why I'd pay full price when high quality refurbs like this are available This is the 6th refurb I've purchased from this vendor, zero issues
Using this to backup several smaller drives on a Mac system. Formatted in Disk Utility, partitioned as needed and started making my backups. No problems!
Don't buy refurbished hard drives... At least that has been my experience..
I ordered a bunch of these hard drives and I have no complaints. Yes, this is older tech, so don't expect blazing speeds, but if space for videos / music / pics is what you need them this will more than get the job done. Silent, no clicking noises at an extremely audible level and the heat output is nothing to worry about. If you have any doubts, you can rest assured these drives are legit.
