TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB M.2 SATA III SSD Review: A Budget-Friendly Storage Upgrade
If you're looking to upgrade your storage without breaking the bank, the TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB M.2 SATA III SSD might just be the perfect solution. With read speeds of up to 530 MB/s and write speeds of 480 MB/s, this SSD promises to deliver faster boot times, quicker file transfers, and smoother multitasking. Designed with 3D NAND TLC technology and SLC Cache, it offers a balance of performance, durability, and affordability. But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the details based on real customer experiences.
Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
Performance and Speed
One of the standout features of the TEAMGROUP MS30 SSD is its speed. Many users have praised its ability to significantly improve system performance. One customer mentioned, "I put this on my Raspberry Pi as the main Open Media Vault SSD. It works and I hold my data with it. Easy to upgrade my PC and use it to hold my data. 10/10." Another user highlighted its affordability and performance, stating, "Does what I need it to do! Run my games and Windows on a side desktop. Very affordable."
However, it’s important to note that this is a SATA III SSD, not an NVMe drive. Some customers mistakenly expected NVMe-level speeds and were disappointed. One reviewer clarified, "Just a heads up, I have noticed a few people mistaking this for an NVMe drive and talking smack about its read/write speeds." If you’re aware of its SATA III limitations, you’ll find its performance more than satisfactory for everyday tasks and light gaming.
Compatibility and Ease of Use
The TEAMGROUP MS30 SSD is designed with broad compatibility in mind. Its M.2 2280 form factor makes it suitable for both laptops and desktops. One user shared their experience, "Put to use on a laptop that only came with 256GB. Couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended." Another customer noted, "For some laptops, you need to be careful when buying these because it may look like an NVMe slot but only SATA works." This highlights the importance of checking your device’s compatibility before purchasing.
Durability and Reliability
TEAMGROUP has built a reputation for producing reliable storage solutions, and the MS30 SSD is no exception. Many customers have expressed satisfaction with the brand’s products. One reviewer said, "Have used multiple Teamgroup hard drive products, and they always seem to function perfectly. Haven’t had much issues, and the pricing is great." Another user added, "I have been extremely happy with Teamgroup's products! The $/performance is fantastic, and to be honest, the performance alone tends to be fantastic!"
However, one minor drawback mentioned by a customer is that the drive comes with slightly less usable storage than advertised. "It does come missing about 10GB, but overall good," noted a user. This is a common occurrence with most SSDs due to formatting and system overhead, but it’s worth keeping in mind.
Value for Money
One of the most frequently praised aspects of the TEAMGROUP MS30 SSD is its affordability. Customers appreciate the balance between price and performance. A satisfied buyer shared, "Works well. Very affordable." Another echoed this sentiment, stating, "Good value for the price." If you’re on a budget but still want a reliable and fast storage solution, this SSD is a solid choice.
Final Verdict: Is the TEAMGROUP MS30 SSD Worth It?
The TEAMGROUP MS30 1TB M.2 SATA III SSD is an excellent option for anyone looking to upgrade their storage without spending a fortune. Its 530/480 MB/s read/write speeds, combined with 3D NAND TLC technology and SLC Cache, make it a reliable and efficient choice for everyday use, light gaming, and even small-scale server setups like Raspberry Pi projects.
Pros:
- Affordable price point
- Reliable performance for SATA III speeds
- Broad compatibility with laptops and desktops
- Durable build quality backed by positive customer experiences
Cons:

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly SSD that delivers solid performance and reliability, the TEAMGROUP MS30 is a great choice. Just make sure to double-check your device’s compatibility to avoid any misunderstandings about its capabilities. For the price, it’s hard to beat!

Just a heads up, I have noticed a few people mistaking this for an NVMe drive and talking smack about its read/write speeds. I have been extremely happy with Teamgroup's products! The $/performance is fantastic and to be honest the performance alone tends to fantastic! I have their DDR4 3600 CL13 RAM in my current build and it is awesome! I was worried because of how cheapnit was, but then learned it had extremely dense Samsung RAM modules and was legit! I also have multible regular SATA SSDs of theirs too(4TB, 1TB, and three 512GB). They are all wonderful and more than affordable. I guess I am team.. teamgroup, lol.
