My camera system has been slowly going downhill for years now. Finally one day it decided to stop recording. And of course, the day we went on vacation!! I got home, pulled the old segate hard drive to to some tests in windows, but i didn't have any issues?! Me fearing the worst, that it was time to upgrade to that 2 thousand dollar system that has caught my eye for some time now... lol I decided one last attempt to fix it. A new hard drive. Installed it w/o any issue, fired up, prepped the hard drive, and i was back in business! The cameras work better than ever. Before i would have the cameras randomly missing things that they should have gotten, and now things are working flawlessly. I'm thinking moving forward, I'm doing a replacement proactively every couple of years.
My new udm pro showed degradation out of the gate and it has now fully failed 3 months later.

I'm a CCTV installer and use WD purple hard drives and all of my installations. I have found that in this particular installation the price was right compared to most CCTV distributors that I deal with. This hard drive is working just fine. It is quiet and does not get very hot. Very simple to install, pretty self-explanatory. I have used this product on many other installations and I give a 3-year warranty with my systems. I have not had to replace any of the WD purple hard drives within the 3 years. I will continue to purchase this product in the future
