Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
Performance and Speed
The TEAMGROUP MS30 SSD shines when it comes to performance. Many users praised its fast read/write speeds, which significantly improved their system's boot times and file transfer rates. One reviewer noted, "It’s faster than my old SSD, and I can finally load my games and applications in seconds." Another user mentioned using it to upgrade a PS4, stating, "While I couldn’t fully utilize its speed on my First Gen PS4, it’s still a noticeable improvement over my old drive."
However, some users pointed out that the speeds aren’t as fast as NVMe SSDs. "It’s a solid performer, but don’t expect NVMe-level speeds," one reviewer cautioned. This is an important distinction, as the MS30 uses a SATA III interface, which is inherently slower than NVMe.
Storage Capacity
The 2TB capacity is a major selling point for this SSD. Gamers, video editors, and professionals alike appreciate the ample space for their files. One user shared, "I use this SSD to store my 3D printing files and software, and it’s been a game-changer for my workflow." Another reviewer mentioned, "It’s perfect for upgrading Dell Wyse thin clients—way better than the built-in eMMC drives."
Ease of Installation
Installation is a breeze, according to most customers. The SSD comes with clear instructions, and its M.2 2280 form factor makes it easy to fit into most systems. One reviewer even created an installation video, stating, "Formatting and setting it up was as simple as any other internal drive. Just remember to let Windows recognize it after installation."
Durability and Longevity
While many users are satisfied with the SSD’s performance, durability has been a point of contention. Some customers reported failures within a year of use. "I had one fail in less than a year, and browsing the reviews, I’m not alone," shared a disappointed user. Another reviewer echoed this sentiment, saying, "Cheap drives are great for the price, but they don’t last as long as advertised."
On the flip side, several users have had no issues with their drives. "I’ve ordered multiple units, and they’ve all worked flawlessly so far," one happy customer reported. It seems that while the SSD performs well for many, its longevity may vary.
Value for Money
The TEAMGROUP MS30 SSD is undeniably affordable, especially for a 2TB drive. Many users appreciate the balance between price and performance. "For the price, it’s hard to beat," one reviewer noted. However, the mixed feedback on durability suggests that spending a bit more on a higher-end SSD might be worth it for those seeking long-term reliability.
Final Verdict: Is the TEAMGROUP MS30 2TB SSD Worth It?
The TEAMGROUP MS30 2TB M.2 SATA III SSD is a solid choice for anyone looking to upgrade their storage without breaking the bank. Its high capacity, fast speeds, and compact design make it a versatile option for laptops, desktops, and even gaming consoles. However, its durability may be a concern for some users, as a few reported failures within a short period.

If you’re on a budget and need a high-capacity SSD for everyday use, the TEAMGROUP MS30 is a great option. However, if longevity is a top priority, you might want to consider investing in a more premium SSD. Overall, this drive earns a solid 4 out of 5 stars for its performance and affordability.

Comments from Amazon:
Purchased this drive to expand the internal capacity for my PS4. Of course, that meant I had to purchase an ssd adapter case. In the end, it functions well with no major issues. Thanks to this being a First Gen ps4, I'm not able to take advantage of the faster speeds with this type of drive but its faster than my old regular SSD.
I use these to refurbish Dell Wyse thin clients into Windows 11 purpose-built machines and these SATA SSDs are a great upgrade over the built-in eMMC drives, adds more than enough storage at a reasonable price, and have never failed me, or failed to be recognized at full capacity. The common issue I've seen is people don't realize there is a difference between M.2 SATA SSD and M.2 NVME SSD, even though they often fit in the same connector on the motherboard. It is important to know what your motherboard requires and you match it with the correct hardware.
Working was expect but not as fast as some SSDs. Will update review as the SSD ages, since some SSDs age poorly over time.
They have plenty of sizes to use. I took this card, & installed it in to my mini computer. The computer is for the 3d printer. This card is to add software & to hold some files for printing. I am super happy that this came extra fast after the holidays! Nearly a week faster! It was nicely packaged in a bag for recycling (yea). Installation was super easy. You can watch my install video here. It is, on installing the card into the mini computer. You can add the NVME drive how ever you may like. Formatting & installing files was as easy as any other internal drive. Do keep in mind that you need to let Windows know you put it in. Reboot. I cold reboot when installing drives internally. Cold reboot means to shut off the computer. After the set-up, I was installing files & software. This is a very nice drive. I had thought about the other drives, & may get a larger one still. I'll see. Five star reviews should be earned, & this card gets that! The company sent it along quickly, & it took the files like they belonged there. However you use your card, is up to you. I don't see there is any problem at all with these. I would imagine they install in to readers just as well as internally. Good luck on your installation. I, am super happy these things offer so much space & speed. I was talking about it the other day with somebody.
I have ordered a number of these and have had no issues with them yet.
Cheap drives, which is great from a price perspective, but they don't come close to the 3 year life that is mentioned in the warranty. I think they need to look into their supply chain, as the failure rate is very high. Had one working on a system with low volume read/write failed in less than a year. And browsing the reviews I'm not an anomaly. If they could last 3 years the value would be there, but worth spending a few more bucks to buy something that can last a while. IMO
