Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying
Performance: Speed That Impresses
One of the standout features of the ADATA 2TB Premium SSD is its blazing-fast speed. Customers have reported significant improvements in load times and overall system performance. One user mentioned, “This SSD works flawlessly with both my PS5 and PC, offering excellent speed and performance across both platforms.” Another noted, “It hit around 6200 MB/s on a random write and read test that Sony does automatically, which is perfect because that’s better than the minimum required by the PS5.”
However, some users pointed out that the SSD doesn’t always hit the advertised 7400 MB/s speed. “It doesn’t hit all the way up to the advertised 7,400 MB/s transfer speed, but that’s to be expected. It will only hit that in perfect conditions,” explained one reviewer. Despite this, the SSD still delivers impressive performance, especially for gaming.
Installation: Easy but Requires Attention
Installing the ADATA SSD is generally straightforward, but it does require some attention to detail. One user shared, “I read an online tutorial on how to install it and had it in within 10 minutes.” However, another reviewer highlighted a potential hiccup: “Vendor should state that you need to install a heatsink and include a link to install it.”
The heatsink installation process can be tricky, especially for first-timers. One customer advised, “This tape/conductor is extremely sticky, and mistakes can’t be made. Take your time, view pics of the SSD with its heatsink installed, logically plan before sticking the plate/heatsink, and it can be done correctly.” While the installation isn’t overly complicated, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re not tech-savvy.
Durability and Reliability: Built to Last
ADATA is known for its reliable storage solutions, and this SSD is no exception. Many customers praised the 5-year warranty, which adds an extra layer of confidence in the product’s durability. “Even if it did fail, it has a 5-year warranty! So even if it did fail, I can just get another for free!” said one satisfied user. Another long-time ADATA customer shared, “Always trust ADATA products. This is my 4th NVMe drive I’ve bought from this manufacturer. Highly recommend for read/write speed.”
That said, some users expressed concerns about long-term storage reliability. “I have no idea if NVMe SSDs can be used for long-term storage (more than 2 years, without periodically re-writing the data), but I would have serious doubts about it,” mentioned one reviewer. While this SSD is excellent for gaming and everyday use, it might not be the best choice for archival storage.
Value for Money: A Budget-Friendly Option
One of the most appealing aspects of the ADATA 2TB Premium SSD is its affordable price point. Customers consistently mentioned that this SSD offers great value for its performance. “This is one of the best value SSDs I can find on Amazon right now since it is so cheap!” raved one user. Another added, “It was easy to install, high quality, and works perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to get the best value SSD.”
However, some users felt that the lack of a pre-installed heatsink was a drawback. “Samsung SSD was 5 stars in my book, but this gets 4 stars because of the heatsink issue,” noted one reviewer. While the SSD itself is a great deal, you may need to factor in the cost of a heatsink if your setup requires one.
Conclusion: Is the ADATA 2TB Premium SSD Worth It?
The ADATA 2TB Premium SSD for PS5 is a solid choice for gamers and PC enthusiasts looking to upgrade their storage without breaking the bank. Its impressive speed, PS5 compatibility, and 5-year warranty make it a reliable option for those seeking a high-performance SSD. While it may not always hit the advertised 7400 MB/s speed, it still delivers excellent performance that exceeds the PS5’s minimum requirements.
On the flip side, the lack of a pre-installed heatsink and the potential for tricky installation might be a turnoff for some users. Additionally, while the SSD is great for gaming and everyday use, it may not be ideal for long-term archival storage.
Final Verdict:
If you’re looking for a budget-friendly, high-performance SSD that’s optimized for gaming, the ADATA 2TB Premium SSD is a fantastic choice. Just be prepared to handle the heatsink installation yourself, and you’ll be good to go. For its price and performance, this SSD earns a 9/10 from us.

Comments from Amazon:
This SSD was the perfect addition to my ps5! I read an online tutorial on how to install it and I had it in within 10 minutes. It doesn't hit all the way up to the advertised 7,400 MB/s transfer speed, but that's to be expected. It will only hit that in perfect conditions. It did hit around 6200 MB/s though on a random write and read test that Sony does automatically. Which is perfect because that is better than the minimum required by the ps5. This is one of the best value SSD's I can find on amazon right now since it is so cheap! It was easy to install as well as high quality. I have had it for a few months now and it works perfectly! Even if it did fail it has a 5 year warranty! So even if it did fail I can just get another for free! I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to get the best value SSD and just needs a little more storage. 10/10
Always trust ADATA products. This my 4th NVME drive I buy from this manufacturer. Such a great storage stick. Highly recommend for read/write speed. Will continue to buy and suggest because or reliability and price
Worked in PS5. Clocked in around score of 6200 during installation. I had just return Corsair LX600 that failed to be seen by the ps5. I’ve bought from this brand and was pleased with other hardware. Tom hardware gave this a good performance score. I Thought they had better price for performance. This was the first ssd from atdata Vendor should state that you need to install heat sink and include link to install heat sink. Moved games on and off no error so far. Pretty damn fast. Started 4-5 games for couple min. No problem. I’ll update detail in 30 days.
I have used rotating media hard drives, hybrid drives with very large caches, and solid state drives. The SSD's are the fastest, but are still limited by their SATA technology to a maximum of 600MB/S transfers. This NVMe SSD storage device can transfer data to a compatible motherboard, up to 3,500MB/S. Generally smaller, lighter, and more power efficient as well. I have had good luck with ADATA SSDs in the past, and so far this installed with no issues. It is working as expected. I have no idea if NVMe SSDs can be used for long term storage (more than 2 years, without periodically re-writing the data) but I would have serious doubts about it. Like how it works so far. Just remember "M.2" is a physical specification. A "M.2 SSD" can be either NVMe, or SATA, and you need to buy the correct type, that is supported by your computer. Also a "GEN4" SSD only delivers GEN4 speeds, when it is connected to a GEN4 capable interface. If you plug it into a GEN3 motherboard, you will only get GEN3 speeds.
The product looks nice and is testing fine for read speed on my son's PS5. We upgraded in size from a 2TB Samsung 980 Pro w/heatsink (pre-installed) to this 4TB Adata Legend 960 Max (heatsink not installed). The ease of the swap would've been simple if Adata would've installed the heatsink. This is a 2 piece heatsink & I would recommend visiting their site for a link to their YouTube video for install. This tape/conductor is extremely sticky and mistakes can't me made. Take your time, view pics of the SSD with its heatsink installed, logically plan before sticking plate/heatsink and it can be done correctly. So this gets 4 stars....Samsung SSD was 5 stars in my book.
Works exactly how it’s supposed to. I haven’t had a single issue. Install was smooth.
The ADATA Premium SSD for PS5 1TB is a fantastic upgrade! It works flawlessly with both my PS5 and PC, offering excellent speed and performance across both platforms. Installation was straightforward, and I noticed an immediate boost in load times and game performance. This SSD provides great value for anyone looking to expand storage without sacrificing speed. Highly recommend for gamers and PC users alike!
