DISCLAIMER ABOUT NEGATIVE REVIEWS saying these drives aren't as fast as fanxiang claims: These drives ARE FAST and in most cases, they are probably faster than the customer's systems are capable of achieving. I've been upgrading several of my computers over the past 6 months and happened upon fanxiang branded 2.5" SSDs and decided to try a few mainly because they were less expensive than most other brands with similar specs. Sure enough, the data speeds were as promised (using CrystalDiskMark) and then I tried one of their smaller (1TB) m.2 drives and was also pleased with not only the performance but also again, their lower price compared to similar brands. So... I decided to 'go big' and got the 4 TB m.2 but decided to go for the 5000 MB/s instead of the faster one (7300 MB/s) simply because my system couldn't even make full use of the 5000 MB/s speed. This drive replaced a smaller 1 TB Sabrent Rocket (gen 4) and actually beat the read speed by 1000 MB/s while the write speeds were almost identical. I am thrilled with the performance, formatting was simple, and I quickly transferred around 350 GB from my smaller m.2 SSD to this one in a matter of minutes. While I have only been using fanxiang hard drives for about 6 months, I have not had any issues, but don't have a long enough history using them to comment on how well these last over a period of years. What I can say, is that they are less expensive than other brands of similar specs. Again, I just want to stress what I mentioned at the start of my review. These ARE fast drives, in many cases, the limitations are going to be from the motherboard itself, and also, transfer speeds (in actual use) will also vary based on the size of the files being transferred (transferring small files is much slower than transferring larger files).
This storage device size was just right for my Day 1 PS5. The heat shield was installed from the factory to clear the air. The speed I received after I installed was over 5000. Yes, you will see in my video. Then I streamed with my PS5 over 5 hours with no issues. My PS5 games works smooth. Console was running as normal no issues of running hot or lagging. I installed COD VANGUARD it installed quickly. My PS5 didn't run Loud at all. If you want you can place this ssd into closer and make this a portable memory device and installed memory on a fly. Using 3.0 but you won't be able to play from it just to for storage.
It worked on my ps5 instantly as soon as I installed it. 2.01 TB of storage after install. Wonderful product. I bought the WD Playstation branded one and my ps5 wouldn't recognize it. I returned it and got this cheap chinese brand instead, not expecting much, but to my surprise, it works! Oh, and the heat sink was pre-installed!
Runs pretty well, got a couple exfils on Helldivers 2. Can finally download more games than cod so that's good. Read speed was around 5000. Process of installation was quick and easy and tripled my storage. For the price I'd say it's worth it. (Btw I am 200% NOT a scammer and NOT lying to y'all, Gods honest truth)
This SSD was an extremely affordable option for me to expand my PS5’s storage capacity. I was able to get 1TB for about $70 on sale and after tax. The SSD came with the heat sink already installed, so those pictures that say it comes with instructions aren’t accurate. I wouldn’t say that’s a bad thing though, because it’s less work for me if the heatsink is already installed. The drive installed seamlessly in my PS5, and the console read it immediately and formatted it. The read speed came out to be 5552 MB/s, so that is perfect as well for the PS5. I’m happy with my purchase so far. Hopefully it lasts me the rest of my console’s life or until I have to possibly upgrade again. I will try to remember to update my review in about 6 months to post how the drive holds up over time.
