Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Ease of Use and Setup

One of the standout features of the SATDUP11 is its simplicity. Customers rave about how easy it is to set up and use. One reviewer mentioned, "It comes with easy-to-understand instructions, and the menu options are straightforward." Another user highlighted its plug-and-play nature, stating, "No software or drivers required—just connect the drives and start cloning."

The built-in LCD display and push-button controls make navigation a breeze, even for those who aren’t tech-savvy. This is a huge plus for professionals who need a reliable tool without the hassle of complicated setups.

Performance and Speed

The SATDUP11 delivers impressive performance, with cloning speeds of up to 14 GB/min. Users have praised its efficiency, with one reviewer noting, "This is the fastest SATA-to-SATA duplicator I've used." Another customer shared their experience of cloning multiple laptops for their business, saying, "In one day, I had all identical laptops operating perfectly. This device is a lifesaver."

However, some users have reported minor issues with Windows 10 partitions. One reviewer mentioned, "It frequently reports BAD MASTER HDD when duplicating certain Windows 10 drives." While this isn’t a dealbreaker, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re working with specific configurations.

Durability and Build Quality

The build quality of the SATDUP11 is another area where it shines. Customers have described it as "very well made" and "excellent." One user even called it a "place of honor on my computer workbench," highlighting its reliability and durability.

That said, a few users pointed out that the SATA cables can be extremely tight to plug in. One reviewer shared, "I was almost sure I was going to snap the circuit board where the SATA connections are." While this didn’t affect the device’s performance, it’s worth being cautious during setup.

Versatility and Compatibility

The SATDUP11’s wide compatibility with 2.5" and 3.5" SATA HDDs/SSDs makes it a versatile tool for various applications. Users have successfully cloned drives across different formats, including solid-state to platter-type drives and vice versa.

One standout feature is its ability to handle RAID array drives. A reviewer shared, "I did a recovery of a 5x8TB RAID array, and it worked flawlessly!" This level of compatibility is a major advantage for IT professionals dealing with complex setups.

It comes with easy to understand instructions, and the menu options are easy to understand

I have used this StarTech standalone hard drive duplicator several times, since the time that I bought it. It comes with easy to understand instructions, and the menu options are easy to understand. It is useful for making copies of any sata master hard disk drive, when the source and the target are both solid state or platter type hard drives. This duplicator can also make a copy from a solid state hard drive to a platter type hard drive, or vice versa. Hard drive image creation & restoration also works very well. This StarTech standalone duplicator is an excellent product! Note: This duplicator does not have IDE connectors, and it is not intended to be used to copy IDE hard disk drives.

I update one to Windows 10 Pro, reinstalled all the productivity software, power toys, and custom configurations

I have four identical laptops that are used for my personal business. I update one to Windows 10 Pro, reinstalled all the productivity software, power toys, and custom configurations. Imaging having to do that with three more laptops? The time. The efforts. The proclivity for errors. I first tried A"k"ronis. Then A"E"omi. Both failed to clone more disks properly. I then took a flyer on this product and although it is slower than the software solutions, it is exact, correct, and pitifully easy. In one day, I had all identical laptops operating identically... perfectly. This device now resides in a place of honor on my computer workbench.

Although, in my opinion it loses a star because it has a hard time with some Windows 10 partitions and I haven't figured out what the commonality is yet

This is the fastest SATA to SATA duplicator that I've used and it works very well. Although, in my opinion it loses a star because it has a hard time with some Windows 10 partitions and I haven't figured out what the commonality is yet. Frequently, it reports BAD MASTER HDD when I attempt to duplicate certain Windows 10 HDDs or SSDs. When I use my Carry On duplicator (probably half the speed of the Startech), it will work for those drives that the Startech has a problem with. Other than this small issue, I highly recommend this Startech for anyone needing to quickly duplicate a SATA drive.

o

Worked flawlessly for SAS drive copying

It does! I did a recovery of a 5x8TB raid array and it worked! My concern was Windows or 3rd-party cloning apps might write/index the drive which would hose the striping

StarTech tech support didn't know if it would successfully duplicate raid array drives. It does! I did a recovery of a 5x8TB raid array and it worked! My concern was Windows or 3rd-party cloning apps might write/index the drive which would hose the striping. Very well made and very well packaged product. The only recommendation I have for the vendor is that the cables were extremely tight to plug into the Source and Target drives to the extent that I was almost sure I was going to snap the circuit board where the SATA connections are. Never ever bumped into that. Still 5 Stars.

 Built quality is excellent

Works as discribed. Built quality is excellent.

 Very fast hard drive replication

Works like a charm. Very fast hard drive replication. Indication for successful replication or failure. Indication for bad sectors. Very satisfied.
